Well, it woud be more of a storage I think. An Aqueduct was a long stone ditch almost that spanned from a lake or body of water all the way into the town it provided water for. It more so held onto the water until it was taken for different needs.
Perhaps then, it could be a storage for water that fills itself everyday, or just provided 800 grams of water a day on the ground. Another automatic project it seems, but with the cost of one in real life, might be worth it.

When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

With the price of a hall, it isn't sure "free water".
It may be just like a well, but with automatic projects. But with that price, I think it will have a far more architectonic value, and a city power demonstration, than a water source.
And of course, brick and marble ones would be beautiful.

Water is not so common or needed resource like in RL. It is needed for gardening rare herbs or to make sake, beer, mead. So you can image that common water to drink is everythere, and some kind of mineral, special water is needed for special purposes. In these pretty high teh stuff water is to much important factor, to lighty change it. Water both making these things centered on developed cities with good akcess to wells or pomps. Water also is deep into calculated cost of these things, like mead. If water will be gathered more than 500g per days per one char who work, or if water will be completly free after finishing any kind of special machine, RD woud need to change (or at least carefully consider need of change) everything what use water. To make it balanced. I woud rather dont mess with that without very good reasons.
Most chars dont need water to anything. These who use it, have many ways to get it. It is working fine for me right now, without new questionable ways.

It's cheaper and quicker to have 2 people working at a well to get water, than build and aqueduct. The main purpose here is architectonical. To show power and wealth.
It'll be the most expensive machine with a cheap alternative in the game. It sure don't unbalance it.
As someone said, water isn't a valuable or rare resource. Only a few projects use it, and use in small quantities. Even if can unbalance, it's simple: reduce the gathering rate. I'm sure people who use a spreadsheet to decide what machine, tool and worker to use won't build one of it. Only RP purposes justifies such a huge price for it.

Yes, if you had built one of these, automatic respect probably, but it would be hard. Maybe a primitive mountain town could use this though, not being able to make string but having vast amounts of stone.

Cantryjczyk wrote:What about marble hall with nice name on it? It is hard to make, and give much prestige to any place. For role-playing reason it can be nice thing in any city. And best part is, it is avaiable to make for long, long time.
It's nice too, but variety is always good. It will not be so cool if any big city has a a marble hall, or an aqueduct. So, let's make diverse wonders, one step at a time.

For your information:
The person you are talking to is on the RD and I think it's very kind of him to share his point of view with us. He could as well just ignore the thread.
On the other hand, there are only 2 Suggestion Forums, this one and the Polish one and we are encouraged to participate in any of the open forums, or at least since last time I read the main page of Cantr.
This is a game were people of different countries play, and not only countries where English is spoken. I think even the creator of it is from Holland.
So, if you find it hard to understand what he is saying you can always ask and we will try to help you.

An aquaduct is meant to move water, not create it. It has to originate at a source of water, like a lake, a canal or a river. So you will not find it inside a town, but in the country, spanning valleys.
If i would want a monumental building in a town, i would rather think of a castle, an arena/stadium, a palace, a church or a skyscraper. Maybe some system could be developed to 'design' unique buildings, combining standard parts (rooms, hallways, gardens, stairs, etc.) into a larger total, and being able to give it a unique name instead of a generic name like 'cottage' or 'hall'.
