In my case, I check (unless I am without internet) often every day. When I have nothing to do, very often. I think my characters are more fun to play that way, and I get frustrated when chars sleep for unreasonable amounts of time, especially without warning. I might just be playing too much...

How often do you check Cantr?
How often do you check your characters and play Cantr? How do you think it affects your char's life/job/relationships? If you do not check often, do you ever feel your characters should avoid commitments because you won't be able to hover over them all them time?

I manage to check for about fifteen to thirty minutes once a day, about five days a week now.
I really wish there were more areas were you could operate with one post a day. With the current pace I am managing, pages of events go by before I have a chance to really get involved anymore. So my characters sleep.

Most of the time, I am on many times a day. Could be because I only started last August.
But there is always some OOC complications which stop my ability from getting on every once and a while.

When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

If I'm at my desk at work (a rarity nowadays, but the norm in the past), I'll refresh my character page about once every 5-10 mins, and I don't log out.
I'll also sometimes make a point to have my character noticeably awake during times when I know less active characters wake up, so I can give them a chance to RP if they want. That's one thing I like about having one charrie: you get to know the habits of the other charries you live with very well.

I used to check many times a day.
Now I log in once a day or so, due to three things:
1) I found a different game that I like to put more time into.
2) The novelty has worn off a bit.
3) Most significantly, having put up with the Lag pretty much ever since I started playing in October 2006, I have really grown tired of fighting it. When I joined, I thought it was a temporary thing, but of course it's been around for over the 18 months I've played. Just as there are a couple of weeks where the page-loads are only "slightly slow" (which is the best they have ever been), this seems to be followed by a short period where the game is unplayable due to severe Lag. The Lag has caused me to kill off some characters, to cause some characters to ignore newspawns or even refrain from all RP, and now it's got to a state where I just can't often face the frustration of getting half way through something only to have a ten-minute page load spoil the flow. It's got to a state recently where I give all my characters projects of a couple of days or more if at all possible, and then only log into them when their projects are finished and catch up with things then - which means I'm more keeping them ticking over rather than being creative with them. I only have one character at the moment that I check more than once a day, because by the time I've done that one, I've rather lost the will to Cantr any more for a while. And even that one tends to be quieter these days. I don't want to say that it's all the fault of the staff, because they're all volunteers and there's only so much they have the time, money or ability to do. Sadly, while I can empathise with their predicament, only fixing the lag (and, to a small extent, the annoying parts of the interface) will make me log in as much as I did when I started playing.

Right now it's working fast with no problems at all. But the problem is that the lag tends to show up later in the afternoon and last into the night, lasting through most of the freetime I have. If I wanted to play it without lag, I should do it while in school, and that would interfere with my studies. Yesterday I went most of the day without even checking the site because I assumed it would still be logged. Then in the evening I logged in and managed to check ONE character before it crashed again. But I stayed awake and actually had some fun playing.
