Ugh, it sometimes feels so unatural when people decide to identify themselves for people they don't, or otherwise shouldn't, care about. I know it's a convieniece for a player to distinguish people from one another, but what ever gives your character the reason to habitually say your name out of nowhere? If your following other people's example, how did they came to do it? How is it such a big deal to let people know who you are? It really doesn't have to part of the law to know who is who. You label them however you like ie theif of [place] or [name]'s cook. Sure, you have make a few more hand manuevers to change it back to a name you apparantly knew, but you should question whether you're within good actual reason to say your name to the sky.

On another note, I CAN'T FRICKEN SPELL ANYMORE! One high school English class a year alongside other writing subjects apparantly isn't enough to keep what you've been working towards from elementary up!

So there I was, playing Cantr yesterday. Thunder was rumbling around, but I was doing complicated manoeuvrings of my char... then an extremely close flash... I restarted my computer, and all OK, but my wife's, networked to it, has lost her internet connection - blown up the network card perhaps.
So, hear from the experience of myself and learn... pull out the phone socket if there's lightning about.

My stomach feels stuffy. :( I guess I won't be having lunch today.

Also, my glasses broke, well, one of them plastic pads that rest on the nose just broke off when I went to school, I sat down and I heard something dropping on the floor, then I looked under the desk and it was there. Some tiny part from between has totally gone missing.

Also our teacher had to go to a meeting so we didn't have teaching, we just had to study stuff on our own, and then some other teacher came to claim the classroom and I think he sounded unfriendly. "If you don't have teaching here, could you move away from here?" What ever happened to "I'm sorry but we need to use this classroom; since you apparently don't have teaching, would you please give us the room?" It's written on each door that reservations need to be done electronically - our teacher had reserved that class and just because he was unable to use it doesn't mean... well okay, so I was playing Cantr but I did do that learning assignment for a while.

My latest irritations; (this one's been mentioned before) People that use '....' instead of the spacebar. If they're roleplaying a hesitant style of speaking, is it too much effort to add *Speaks hesitantly* at the beginning of the sentence? Apparently....it.....is.....for.....some......people.

And also char's that use expressions such as "Oh god", "For god's sake", "to hell with it" and any other references to RL religions that don't exist IG.

 Guilty (although I try not to use references to god or hell or any other such things; sometimes, though, one needs to use such language to express a feeling so extreme, i.e. "Oh my god! George! He's... dead!")

I often need to stop typing when I realize I wrote or was just about to write "oh god" or "for god's sake", I think I'm a bit more loose when it comes to hell since that summarizes a bad place where you go after death, and anyone who's encountered nasty characters must wish that they continue suffering also after death. It's hard to figure out replacements that would sound as efficient and fit the (non-)existent culture. At least one of mine tends to say "for goodness' sake" but that's only suitable for nice old ladies. Also, you shouldn't say "gee" either because that's based on "god". As is "gawd". How about "egad", does anyone know?

I know some people who use excessive ellipses. I guess I've gotten used to it but... I always say "but" when I don't have anything more to say. I always need to stop and think what to write after the but, unless I just end up using those pesky ellipses, in which case you might as well leave out the but and use a rock solid period. But that wouldn't be quite truthful. Using more than three points in a row is like some sort of an impediment. I think the writer has paused to think and is holding down the period key while doing it. If the character is also thinking, you could say er, um, but er, uh, well... stuff.

One thing I hate here on the forums is that when you click on those emoticons, it attaches it to the end of the message no matter where your cursor is.

Yeah? And we've had this discussion already a million times.

It used to be that people playing the game ran around saying "Oh Jos" all the time. But Solfius complained that he made a relgion that was based on a god named Jos and so the whole of cantr shouldn't be allowed to say "Oh Jos" unless they knew of the "Church of Jos," or were in a region where the church of "jos" was practiced. Of course people were saying "jos" long before Solfius created his religion. Using it in replacement of statements like "Oh God" So it totally sucked when someone brought this up.

I believe somewhere Jos explained it would be more natural to use Oh God than it would be to use Oh Jos, since "god" is a pretty loose term. Used to mean some greater being---Not necessarily "GOD" of the catholic religion or the GOD of Islaam or the God of water or the god of Quillanoi for that matter. Just "god." with no meaning behind it.

I never used to use the word "god" but then I got lazy and I don't really care anymore. I feel like thinking about something like the term "God" in cantr, too much, is really a waste of time. It's not like you see people running around saying "Worship God and Jesus Christ our Savior." And for those who DO do it, they are usually newspawns who get spoken to by staff. Anyway, when two religions get together in Cantr how do you expect them to describe t heir worldly leader/creator? "He's our ......" Oh. Don't want to use those ...'s we're bound to annoy someone.
I hate people.

Seko- I don't know about egads, but gosh is also based on God. I've got a character that refers to 'what may be' because. This character believes there must be something, some cause for life, and some hidden meaning. The same character also believes any such being or force is so far beyond their imagination they won't bother attempting to imagine it.

The rest of my characters are either non believers, have never had the concept of faith introducted to them, or wouldn't dare consider using the name or term for or of their "God" in vain.

My rant- Grr at myself.

I left home about this time yesterday (I think) for a visit. Last time I was here they had dial up, so I of course arranged for all my characters to sleep... well not all, but I arranged and apologized for my most active characters.

It's not dial up. They've upgraded to the point their connection is better than mine, nice of them to have made me aware though. So my characters are stuck in their excuses and now I can't play them anyway.

I'm sorry to anyone that knows the characters I'm talking about. But I expect you need a break from them anyway.

*spawns a drunken, tree-swinging, farty character who says nothing but "Oh...............My.............God" just to be annoying*

Statistics. That is my rant for the week.
