curses... my char now has a feeling of dread knowing that someone has probably found the answer he needs but the likelyhood of him ever finding them is slim to none :: smiles ::

I have a couple of chars who are developing an interest in mapping - not sure which one is going to develop beyond "hobbyist".

Personally I've got three levels of mapping characters 1. Not mapping at all - half my characters don't make maps visual or text, 2. Casual mappers - some I just keep casual maps for, basic regions and paths they travel but not much else, then I have two "level 3" chars... the obsessive ones. They've got detailed visual/text maps that include paths, citites, sailing routes as well as "Dockable regions" surrounding each port they've encountered. One char is working on an icon system for resources as well so that he can have an entirely visual map.

In a few years I will have a tri-continental map with an icon system.
Its easy to do once you develop an accurate system of measurement.
HINT: what would a real sailor do?

Kiddy,

Yes, I'll share my map once I have it complete. My char with the most detailed map is keeping it to himself for the moment only because he's seemingly alone on one of the newly discovered islands.

Nick - I hope one of my chars does run into yours some day. It'd be neat to share / merge the maps.

Does your char on that new island have his map accurately connected to another continent?
I was hoping to be the first to do so...

he has it connected, with data to eventually say convincingly that it's accurate - but as depicted today it isn't.

I'm just working out the math on my own - (no more hints please :) )

But my map on the known continent side is very limited (spawned and sailed from the same location)

I have mapped over 10 locations on the new island at this point and know of the rough locations of a few more (based on seeing routes to the same location from multiple places) so probably between 13 20 locations total.

The char I have there though is getting tempted to settle down and hope some more folks arrive/spawn - he's found a bit of a bottle neck of locations that are tightly spaced (1 days travel between) with all the neccessary resources (except for iron/hematite :( ) so i think he's going to start to try and establish a presence there in hopes of building a community.

Guess I will have to find you to merge the maps, then.
And I wont give you anymore OOC hints, but I might give ya my system if I ever meet you IC

Sounds good :D

my char is suddenly dveloping an urge to ask everyone IC if they make maps ;)

Actually down the road if we don't meet up IC I'd love to OOC (maybe with out resource markings) share maps just to see how much you've seen mapped.

Most of my chars have fairly limited maps at this stage as they've only been mapping for a few weeks in OOC time... but I plan on continuing to grow them as long as they live.

I wish one of my characters had kept a map... there would be a map from Brunoi all the way to Knatr.

I have a complete Hisotrian, his first work was based on events he experienced first hand, now he collects notes and other peoples journals to write down for his next work.

Right now I wish I made maps. My boat out of Blojt and my boat out of Dory just crossed paths and I don't know where the hell either of them are.
I'm not dead; I'm dormant.

Getting back to the subject. One of my chars will be doing a town history/autobiography soon. I got around to looking at all the stuff he has and I can cover all but about 8 years of the history of Siom, some of the earlier events will be thinnly detailed, but the big picture will be there.
