actually, ive never seen a sword hit another sword. i guess that would cause too much wear, but i do see swords hit shields an awful lot.

Money, a suggestion- stop using emotes in quotation marks  it lets us know what chars you play. So you can't trick us if we already know which chars you control.

I hate this thread, it gives me the impression that there's a lot of OOC collaberation between players with regards to IG events.

unfortionately, there is a lot of ooc teamwork for many ic events. oftentimes, thats the only way things do work out, as in aligning cantr clock with RL clock, and getting everyone to meet at the proper RL times so all charries are online at once. In essence, there is no way an invasion will work without at a degree of ooc communication this far, and the more ooc communication, the more likely it is to succeed.

I don't get it. You tell people to be awake at 7:00 (Cantr time). Each person can figure out on his/her own what 7:00 Cantr time is in local time. This can be communicated in Cantr with whispers. I see no need for OOC time references or OOC communication such as IRC.

Chris,

how much time would it take for 10 people to coordinate agendas when characters are awake twice a day at different times and their agendas are occupied 50% of the time? It would take some smart organisation (or a lot of luck) to find a time within 3 days!
The time it takes to have a message read by all chars in the game makes all coordination lengthy at least, if at all possible.

How would you coordinate a timely reaction to an imminent pirate attack on your village without messaging around OOC? Half the population might be sleeping through the whole attack and wake up amidst the smoking remnants of a pillaged village.

Have you ever tried to set up a village council or get a common task scheme approved? One meeting will probably take half a game year to complete.

OOC communication is absolutely required if you want to get any more or less complex task done efficiently and well coordinated in game. It is one of the unavoidable flaws of having a game that can be played by logging in once a day.

Chaos will prevail. Organization is futile! :P

Well, if you think OOC conversation is absolutely necessary then either you are a CRB:er or never get any teamwork done. I have been fussing around in a town right after a pirate attack trying to make someone wake up so that I wouldn't have to go after the pirate alone. But if no one wakes up then you either go alone or you see about chasing them in a large vehicle, you don't go contacting people outside the game because... that's against the rules.

Seko, i know OOC communication is a CRB. I know pirates can get away with their practices because of the sleeping problem. Having an effective defense or police force is virtually impossible in Cantr. That is why i ended my last reply with this phrase:
Chaos will prevail. Organization is futile! :P
