HOLLYWOOD MAFIA - GAME OVER! Mafia wins!
HOLLYWOOD MAFIA
Theme gist: The Oscars are over, but not everyone is happy. A couple of actors and actresses were not recognized for their contributions to movie entertainment and have secretly formed the Hollywood Mafia. Frustrated, the mafia will not stop until the competitors drop dead so next year’s Oscars will inevitably be theirs. This is not acting anymore, kids. It’s real and Hollywood just got more cut-throat.
BASICS: (taken from some past threads)
Those who wish to take part in the game, must be active. If there is a problem with inactivity on the player’s part, the other players can petition to have a replacement, if possible.
When voting, the vote or unvote + name of player MUST be in bold. Ex: vote Tangential
Ties of votes will be broken by longest held vote. If two or more persons have the same number of votes by the end of the day, then the person with longest vote (earliest casted vote) is lynched.
Once 75% of the votes are announce, a lynch deadline of 24 hours will be announced by the moderator. When that deadline is past, all votes are locked in place and the day's results will be announced.
EVIL wins if AT ANY TIME the number of mafia members (traitor not included) is equal to the remaining number of GOOD players.
GOOD wins as soon as the last Mafia member dies.
When a player is killed, their alignment (GOOD or EVIL) will be revealed. The GOOD player’s role will not be revealed unless instructed by the Forensic Investigator; however, the EVIL player’s role will be revealed.
ROLES
EVIL (Only Mafia Members, not including the traitor, can communicate with each other by PMs. Mafia Members will know who’s in the mafia, but only the Godfather’s role will be revealed)
1 Mafia Godfather: George Clooney (Head of the Mafia, the Godfather is the one who gives orders for one kill each night. The Godfather can communicate freely through PMs with the rest of his/her mafia)
1 Mafia Roleblocker: Jude Law (The roleblocker can choose a person each night to block his/her role and take back to his/her hotel room. Can communicate with rest of mafia)
0-1 Traitor: Tom Cruise (The Traitor appears to be GOOD by the town detective. He/she knows from the start who the mafia members are, but the mafia do not know about the traitor. The traitor cannot communicate with the mafia and can only win with the mafia)
GOOD
1 Detective: Will Smith (can investigate a person each night and finds out if the person is good or evil)
1 Doctor: Patrick Dempsey (each night, the doctor can protect anyone of his/her choice. The doctor cannot protect his/herself)
1 Bodyguard: Arnold Schwarzenegger (the bodyguard can choose someone to protect each night. But if the protected person is attacked, then the bodyguard dies instead)
0-1 Vigilante: Sean Connery (Once per game, the vigilante can kill someone at night)
1 Forensic Investigator: Denzel Washington (Each night, the Forensic Investigator can choose one dead body to investigate. The role of the investigated dead body will be revealed to the entire town at the beginning of the day)
0-1 Thief: Brad Pitt (Each night, the thief can steal an item related to a person’s role. In this way, the thief not only learns what power the person has, but also strips them of their power for that night)
1-5 Townies (regular good citizens of Hollywood)
** NOTE: I have changed some of the actresses to actors just for simplicity of gender. Again, these celebrity names are not supposed to be any factor to role play. It's just an extra fun touch for the Hollywood Theme.

As an aside;
Might it not be better to have roles, but not have them linked to specific celebrities?
'cos, if, like, I get Big Willie - I'd be damned if I ain't gettin' Jiggy wit it just to hide my role...
If we all have to hide which celebrity we are so that we hide our roles - kinda defeats the point of a Hollywood theme, no?

You are correct in that aspect, and I did think about that. However, I just put the names there for fun, really. Since all these characters are actors and actresses, they can act however which way they want to (it’s their job). For example, if you are the vigilante who is Sean Connery, it’d be wise not talk act or talk like Sean Connery since that would be a dead giveaway and it wouldn’t matter if Sean Connery talked with an Australian accent and acted like the town drunk either because he’s an actor. The celebrities are kind of like fun masks, but really are not needed. It’s just there for fun, just like how we’re doing it in the Libertarian game.
The Hollywood theme actually will be largely based on the setting and the story I will be moderating for the players, not the character identities. So that’s what will make the theme in this game and everyone can role play off of it.

Like, Zanthos said.. dropping obvious hints like that will get you killed. The names are only names to faces.. try not to think more about them.
I will wait for frenchfisher to confirm and then send out the roles. He was kind enough to be mod on the other game; I think he deserves a chance to actually play in one since he did say it is one of his favorite games to play.
EDIT: Actually, I posted this before I checked my messages. He just sent me the confirmation.
Which means I will be starting this game in a couple of hours.

Please note that I have made a few changes to the original post in regards to the roles. Have fun everyone!
A night of dressing up in expensive clothing and clapping for hours has come and gone during the Oscars. Needless to say, the after party was a blast. The hottest beats blaring on the dance floor with a bar, serving nothing but the best blends of drinks available in Southern California. But not all was fun and games.
The next morning, the body of the gingerbread man from Shrek I, II, III, and pi was found in the middle of Sunset Blvd. Pieces of him were bitten off and surrounding the body was a pool of milk. Stapled on the gingerbread man's forehead was:
The time has come for our glory. Beware of the Hollywood Mafia!
A crowd of horrified actors gather around the half eaten body of the gingerbread man. Time to put an end to this.
DAY 1

A sharply dressed man, in his mid twenties, walks over to the unfortunate scene, and after a single glance at the unfortunate gingerbread man, regurgitates most of his lunch from his mouth onto the pavement.. "My god.. I've gone to the pub with this man. What kind of sick person could do such a thing?"
Stupidity is relative.

*Walking by, I can't help but notice a croud gathering and lights flashing. It seems something is amiss, so I head in to check it out. A murder, apparently, overnight. Sad, yes, but none of my concern.*

Oooh, weird! *he stares at the dead body, and picks up an empty water bottle from the street* Haha, that looks funny! *he pokes the body with the water bottle, gently* Poor little gingerbread man, he couldn't stand a chance, I don't think. I mean, he must have been yummy. But how could anyone eat anything so innocent? He was so nice and gingerbreaddy!
IT WAS YOU!
vote toon
I dunno why. No offense or anything. Just trying to get the ball rolling. *he giggles*

*steps into the street and flashes a dashing smile at the the crowd then responds to Toon*
You were sleeping last night? What, no one invited you to the big after parties? You feeling left out?
*bends at the knee and picks up a gumdrop button then shakes his head* Poor little guy
