Bone Bow
Ok have any of you Cantrians ever read the oddessy (is that how you spell it) Anyway you know Odeseus who as you know went to fight in the trojan war, got lost and all that? Well as one of the tasks for Penelope's (odesseus' wife) suiters was to string a bow made out of the horns of a ram, well that could be done! Just say 1000 grams of Large bones and some copper and say 3 days and a bone knife, good for areas that don't have wood for a primitive bow, and it deals a attack of 30, you know the bow could only be strung by odeseuss who is a very strong man, and maybe even you could have the "Very strong types" in cantr that don't need a bow stringer but everyone else has to, because well that ain't strong enough, propably too hard to implement.
That is my rant of the day, thank you *smiles and bows*

If it is an alternate to the primative bow, then 30 is way to much to do for damage. and if you copper, then it will never be very popular, copper is one of the least used resources i believe
When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

Yeah, and jewel studded golden sceptors to beat poor, ugly, gimped people, like Odysseus used in the Iliad.
And we need giant wooden horses, even though they were never mentioned in Homer's poems.
But hey, bone bows.... I don't know. Personally, I hate bone stuff. Bones suck. My better-off characters would rather have their hand cut from their wrist, than touch a bone tool. All nasty and quick rotting. That's for the peasants

It is mentioned briefly in The Odyssey, bk 4, when Menelaus tells the story to Telemachus, with Helen present:
Then Menelaus said, "All that you have been saying, my dear wife, is true. I have travelled much, and have had much to do with heroes, but I have never seen such another man as Ulysses. What endurance too, and what courage he displayed within the wooden horse, wherein all the bravest of the Argives were lying in wait to bring death and destruction upon the Trojans. At that moment you came up to us; some god who wished well to the Trojans must have set you on to it and you had Deiphobus with you. Three times did you go all round our hiding place and pat it; you called our chiefs each by his own name, and mimicked all our wives -Diomed, Ulysses, and I from our seats inside heard what a noise you made. Diomed and I could not make up our minds whether to spring out then and there, or to answer you from inside, but Ulysses held us all in check, so we sat quite still, all except Anticlus, who was beginning to answer you, when Ulysses clapped his two brawny hands over his mouth, and kept them there. It was this that saved us all, for he muzzled Anticlus till Minerva took you away again."
