Engines and Fuel
How do you put fuel into a vehicle engine? The wiki says: "Engines will accept fuels just like any other storage device." I have tried to store my fuel from the Inventory screen, but the engine isn't given as a storage option. In the Objects screen, I can see the engine, but it doesn't have any action icons next to it.

I know this question has been asked before, and I've read responses to it twice but none one was answered one way and the other gave an answer that was opposite to that of the first, and neither of the responses were from sources in ProgD or RD, so......
In vehicles, will fuel be necessary to move at a speed equal to the speed vehicles move at now? Or will fuels simply increase the speed of a vehicle above and beyond current levels? (similar to sails on boats)

See, I don't won't to think about it. What I rationalize isn't and never will be shared equaled by everyone. Someone will always have a different view, a different ideal, some better, some worse, some remotely the same. It won't ever be unanimous, so I ask the department.

Cars are a luxury, they should have been far more challenging and difficult to maintain from the beginning. When things are made more difficult after they have already been in the game for a while and people have them, of course people are going to compare to the old days and complain. That's the curse of being in eternal beta. Making fuel isn't really that hard once you get your still, which can be made in three different ways. You also need a water pump or a well to be somewhat efficient. Once you got the huge load of water and some grain, and a little bit of fuel, you can stuff them in the still and it will produce alcohol automatically. It's much easier than in real life.

Yup. A little more infrastructure in a game where infrastructre doesn't collapse. Basically, without it, there'd be no real maintenence on anything but a tiny bit of food. Which leaves quite a bit idle.
I still remember my first character... he was a cook in a village with no wood. He'd had dreams of cooking many fantasic things that would draw attention... but once I got the ability to make something... it quickly stopped being either a burden or even really that amazing. I guess what I'm trying to say is, once you're set up to do something, it stops being a fufilling goal in and of itself... so adding fuel potentially makes cars a bigger goal.

When fuel was mentioned as a need, all my characters in power built all the machines needed to make fuel. Some built the easier ones, some built the harder one. I have alcohol in storage and have hunted for oil. I made sure my limo was ready to run.
Implemented or not, It gave me something to do... even though I killed off most of my characters who had prepared for the future.
I have fuels for cars that need no fuel.
I have planks that have nothing to plank.
I have an apothocary table with nothing to store in it
I can dry all sorts of flowers in multiple machi9nes, but have no real ingredients.
I love to prepare incase I ever have something to use my stuff for.
I actually had a hoist and pully years and years before it could be used. I guess being 100+ years old has its advantages

I see two sets of people. The first set already has access to vehicles with engines, either through ownership or being trusted enough to borrow them. The second set is far away from having vehicles with engines. Having to make and/or gather steel, iron, magnesium, rubber, tools, etc. is not trivial. Add in obstacles like unmapped territory, roads that are only paths, hostile animals, bandits on land and sea, small town population, etc., and the goal seems almost impossible. Adding fuel requirements would put the vehicle so far down the list of possibilities that it might be OOC years before it can be finished.

Isn't that the point? It's a long term goal. In real life it would take thousands of years to advance from bone knives to cars. So there should be more simple vehicles in between. The biggest problem is animal domestication. And skipping the coal burning stage. It would've been far more natural for Cantrians to have steam engines but no, we had to jump to biodiesel just because people want to create a modern society.
