Display Cases
Oh boy, i'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest display cases. I searched the forums for "display case" and display cases" and got nothing, so if in some way this is a repost, i'm sorry and just kill me or something.
Ok, so on to the main point....shops in Cantr don't really work for a couple of reasons, but the one i think is most easily fixed is the whole idea that you can't sell things in a store because someone might steal things while you're not online, so you have to lock up your building or whatever. Well, why not have display cases, made of glass panes and wood, built with i dunno maybe a screwdriver, that has it's own locks. That way, when you are not online people can still see what you have, then maybe tell you what they want and when you get back you can give it to them. Whew, ok i think i covered it.
Again, if somehow i am retarted and didn't catch this topic on my forum search, sorry for wasting your time.

I like it too, eventually it might also lead to huge economys. For example, in Doryiskom someone might make a instrument store, and eventually on Buegeo they have the same store with same title, and it is still expanding. And you won't be able to open a store right away either, it will take a while to get rich enough.
When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

I think they may have been mentioned more, maybe under different names. I only had time for one search, though there are several others I would've tried.

I like it too. Trouble is it would require a fair bit of coding. First, storage containers can't currently contain items, only resources. Secondly, the locking doesn't work on storage items (see for example the Lockable drawer). Thirdly, having the item(s) visible would also require coding (but could presumably be used for other things besides this, for example windows).

phpBB's search function can be a load of wank if it's not treated with the proper care, attention, flowers, the odd gift and a gentle, loving touch, falling and folding into your arms like the embrace of a new, passionate, starry-eyed relationship.

Lack of currency is hardly a problem. Economies based on bartering in various forms can easily flourish. In fact, I think currencies in Cantr are probably just superfluous.
I think skills should just be much more pronounced (I've argued this before) - people should be able to sell their skills and equipment - their services - just as much as raw goods.
Also, most of Cantr is just utilitarian - clothes and other 'retail' items hold very little sway or interest.

Yea, it's good that you tried to search first, and it's a good suggestion.
I just searched display case and made sure all words were included... via one of the check boxes.. I think... uhmm.. I don't know. I don't pay attention to how I search much really (after the fact anyway), since it's such a common part of what I have to do every day. It was a very basic one.

I beg to differ. I have one char specializing in making one type of goods. People wants to buy, but all wants to pay in things I don't need. I did trade for that at first, since I figured a small stockpile might be good, but I had to stop.
A few others of mine has been trying to trade in the past with little success, since everybody wanted iron. Well, now they have iron, but now nobody wants to trade at all, or even bothers to respond..
But I think you're right, a currency isn't the solution either. You'd need an extraordinary strong group backing it. With such an entity normal bartering works just as well..
