Well, in my opinion, why are you having fighting tournaments? I haven't ever seen such things in anywhere I've been, and the people in the towns I go to spar and talk, and I think it's bad rp to have people in these "tournaments" where they are supposed to just sit around and wait for the next day to hit each other. That's what it sounds like to me.

I suspect Dyl would agree.

On the other hand if you were, for example, to rp half a dozen feints and misses before the actual attack, and maybe a few afterwards, then salute each other and agree to meet again the next day for a rematch that would be a different matter entirely. Not sure I'd be up to it myself, but it would be entertaining to watch if done well, and probably rather satisfying for the participants.

A while ago there was the Karnon Games, and that's basically what the participants did.
I've sparred before, just for fighting experience.

It's not bad RP, IMO; it is the direct result of game mechanics. RP is supposed to add flavor and excitement and make up for deficiencies in the game mechanics. That seems to be what tournaments are doing.

I agree. The one actual tournament that the Karnon Games had wasn't all that boring.

Resurrecting this since I started it. (Yep, still playing...but am fighting off WoW cravings daily...Lich King...gahhhh)

I was wondering if a character can be born without an 'expert' proficiency in any skill? I thought each person would have at least one but I'm 10 skills deep on someone and haven't found one above skillful.

I guess if none of my "parents" had one I wouldn't either huh? Thanks Mom! Thanks Dad!

I think it's technically possible albeit unlikely.

Back again...

I just wanted to thank everyone in the lovely little towns my chars have landed. It's been fun enough that I am still playing and enjoying myself greatly. You know how hard it is to walk into that party where you don't know anyone? People were nice even when I kept stealing notes accidentally.

I wish people in Underlight SoT were as friendly. Not that I can tell as I can't even find anyone to talk to...w/e

I doubt I'm doing everything right, but no one has whispered to me that I suck or complained about me here...and you know how positive it is in these forums... ...so I'll take that and run.

Thanks CANTRers.

P.S. In ref to my last question: I did find a couple 'expert' skills...nothing the char finds useful, but I found 'em. Thanks Mom! Thanks Dad!

Oh boy, I really have to start making worthwhile posts again, instead of these stupid add-ons.

ADM, that avatar has already been claimed. :?

Where is Nalaris these days? I think he had it before, although it says he doesn't have an avatar now. I had it once, but was complained at because it was taken already, so I put it in my signature.

You can keep it though, I'm content with this monkey one.
What if everyone in the forum had ADM's avatar?

I think it was Kronos that had it before. Anyways, it's someone that has dropped off the cantr map, I believe :(

Anyways, to stay on topic (and to mention something a little more than " lol, way to go".....

I've been having a lot of fun RPing little sort of "passovers" lately, especially when it goes beyond the capacity of game mechanics. One character is constantly trimming his facial hair, Another likes to tune up his car, and one likes to take in their environment as much as they can, trying to factor in the difference between where the buildings might be congregated, and where the different locations of resources might be.

I know I've seen a number of other characters dip into these realms of RP as well, and I must say that as a player, it's been a very fun and interesting challenge to keep up.
