I think it could work. I think striking back is enough of an agreement. I don't see any way this could have negative consequences. If the person doesn't strike back then they are protected by the 1-hit-per-day limit. If people choose to hit several times per day, they will get tired and be an easy target to others.
If tiredness slowed you down then there could actually be a benefit from not striking back and instead running down the road. I think a person should have a chance of escaping someone on foot if they don't stop to fight them. Currently it might take a couple of days even if you're carrying very little and the chaser is loaded up.

This idea would turn people into expert fighters quite quickly if exploited right....
All someone really needs to do is get some healing food, a strong shield, a waster, and a buddy with the same items and they could theoretically shoot up in fighting ability in a fraction of the time....
I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, that's just something for you all to consider.

Edit.
Maybe once you get to 100%, you would stop gaining skill points until your tiredness goes down? That way people couldn't just lock themselves in a room with somebody and keep dueling for hours. I was thinking that when people get to 100% they are so vulnerable that only a few people would take the risk, but then I rembered about locks. So it should be limited after 100% tiredness, either no stats or no hitting, or even passing out until you recover.

Maybe tiredness could affect the result of training. With a good reduction curve, this should fix the problem. A exponential one would be great.
Training improvement = (Original training Improvement)*(2^(-Tiredness/0.3))
With that, when 30% tired, you will gain half the improvement points that you would gain if 0% tired. When 50% tired, gain 31%. What do you all think about it?

Nah.
You'd earn the 'training point' only once per day, regardless of how much you train.
I'll agree tho that striking back should reset the timer for the first attacker on the second, as, if you strike back, you aren't fleeing and avoiding battle.
But only if, for once, people care of roleplaying the battle, with shoutings, descriptions and everything. If this is only to turn Cantr into Hack'n'Slash, I say, go play Nethack.

That's fair. If you think about it, if they haven't striked back after an entire day, it's their problem for not logging in.
