Skill enhancing substances?
Have skill-enhancing substances been accepted into Cantr? .. okay, I mean drugs like Steroids.. I wanted to ask before I try suggesting it persuasively.. (like you are a better fighter, more skillfull etc, but afterwards the effects are very bad - loss of health, slowness, take more damage easy, less ability to block attacks, etc)

Interesting.
Thanks for moving it.
Well what do you think? I mean, I know people try keeping it family-friendly, but I don't exactly picture a 9 year old with the mouse clicking away at Cantr, his dad over his shoulder correcting his every move. ( "No, don't run in and out of buildings for gods sake.. you just dont get the game.. get off the computer, I'll do it!" ).
I would like to see some product in Cantr that involves moral thought before it's use.
Not long ago, only the elders had access to iron, and they payed young'uns with it at slave rates. It was like a forbidden fruit that could make weapons and shields and fast boats which people wanted but couldn't get.
Now that we are experiencing the iron age in full swing, with any old newspawn able to set up his/her own iron smithery quickly, we need a new 'forbidden fruit', which is more 'forbidden' than iron.
I am thinking a drug that, in the short term, has great benefits, but in the long term, these benefits are far outweighed.
It would open an entire new sector in Cantr. I've always been excited about the thought of some day opening up my own Mafia within Cantr, getting 'protection money' off businesses in Kwor, or Akypor, or Olipifirovash. It's never really been a possibility as items just aren't restricted everywhere. Sure, some towns ban weapons.. some, like 1%. But this drug would give a character a very good advantage in combat, at doing things/activities, and this unfair hightened skill would NEED to be banned by authorities, as others who are working off drugs feel left out.
The drug would need to be highly valuable in terms of effort to attain it, and I really need to emphasise the benefit in the short term it would have. Perhaps productivity in most projects would increase 150 to 200% if not more...
However, while you won't feel any harmful effects so long as you are continually on the drug, once you come off it, you will start losing health and be ultra slow at projects (maybe doing things at 25% or even 15%, depending on how long you were on the drug for).
If you were on the drug for a day, perhaps no MAJOR long term damage. However, if you were on the drug for one or two entire years, once you come off it, all your skills would drastically be reduced.. perhaps something like from Expert to Skillful, all lowered etc.
It would be a lot to program but I would be happy to program a template or the bulk of it outside of Cantr, then give it to the programmers to bolt it into the system, make all the variables and database references compatible and ensure it works smoothly, and also give the details to the Resources Department to check for quality...
Phew, I really went on for ages there.. sorry. I guess only the interested will read it now, hahaha.

I think it's a good idea but sterioids wouldn't improve attack and make you slow lol steroids would improve almost everything in cantr since they can't leterally make the player dumber
But I think This is a good idea everyone hates getting stuck with akward players it sucks.
there should be a way to improve your chars it shouldn't be easy tho.
I suggested a char slot for one char per person that you could improve but it was instantly rejecteed. meh maybe one day.

Drugs are only a moral choice in our society (even then, that's debateable - they're certainly moralised, but the choice over using smack isn't based upon moral or ethical issues)
Anyway, nitpicking aside, I've agreed before to suggestions about drug-like substances.
(The whole idea of 'gain in one area, loss in another' is a very stylised version of what drugs are/do - but it works in gameplay terms)
Doug has a good suggestion - this could potentially be an extension for apothecary.
I'd like to see it temporarily affect skills, and afterwards a drop in productivity, or extreme tiredness, or something along those lines...

Tea? Though it's an escalation game, once your opponent has it you have to have it too. Not many in EZ has it yet.

I agree we need something that had a large impact like iron.
Teas that enhance skills would be awesome.

Teas and coffee are really powerfull at war, and the apothecary mixtures can be, if people can find all resources needed. But besides war, teas have almost no use.
Maybe electronics can evolve, or more great uses to aluminium. Maybe gunpowder weapons, but I don't like it.
I saw that there is already stainless steel at the game, but not manufacturable. It's something too.
