Thanks Sanch and Anti. Glad it's not a problem on my end, but still sad there's no IRC.

Crap, this happens way too often. Time to switch to a more reliable server?

This is the third time... the only thing that gets me is there's no site or way of finding out how long it will be for.

This exact thing has happened atleast 5 more times for me, spanning several hours each time. Maybe it's some issue only European users see or something, dunno.

I do use 3 other irc networks an they were all fine, along with everything else, except gnug. One thing that may be happening is my isp isn't following the rfc about dns and caches an old record for way too long instead of propagating. (there is probably a reason if you set propagation time to something small like 5 minutes).

Anyway, I propose an immediate change to a better irc network, this has now been down for 19 hours, plenty of time to respond.

This is the third day, can someone reccomend an irc server we can set it up on? I wish to move that room and the other rooms I run to a different server for a while at least.

irc.freenode.net ?
Rather large and well staffed network.
Freenode provides discussion facilities for the Free and Open Source Software communities, for not-for-profit organizations and for related communities and organizations.

We sort of fit into that I guess.

Freenode has a few of the staff nicks already registered... could be a problem. Any other suggestions?

Not really, sorry. Though I suspect that most medium sized networks (and up) will have many nicks taken.
That's the tradeoff I suppose, either have a larger, more reliable network or have the old nicks.

How about a small network that is working just as a temp solution?

Fixed it, we're on irc.netgoth.org.uk as a temp solution.

Too late, gnug just went up a few minutes ago.
