Spawning during travel

Postby Junesun » Thu Mar 11, 2004 11:29 am

One of my characters and his companion have been wandering aimlessly and starvingly through the desolate woods of the French area for quite some time. Now some days ago, somebody spawned right in the middle of the road leading from one wood to the next. Is that how this new spawning system is supposed to work? I thought it was in favour of friendly places that support lots of people?

I'm not sure if spawning is suppose to occur on the road. Or if it was intended to occur.

Yes, he spawned on the road travelling. Well there were two people around, my character and his companion, and I think they were travelling at the same speed even since they've both lost the same amount of force to hunger.

Spawning on a road should not be possible. Can you mail me details about when this happened, on what road, and what character you are talking about (yours and the spawned one)? (or use PM).

Spawning can happen when there is only one char on a location, indeed. Chances are smaller, but existent.

It's my char - he spawned in a location and hopped on the road and found those two.

I must have spawned just after they had left - they're in the :| level of health so I'm assuming they're moving fairly slowly.

My guess is that they were in the location long enough for the spawning "engine" to consider people being there and decide to place someone there but left before my character was spawned.

Ah, that is very well possible. The "engine" checks only once a day how many characters there are on a location and uses that info all day for the spawning. So they had loads of time to travel away :)

Ah, you were indeed spawned at a location? In that case I must have misunderstood your French. In any event I didn't see you at that location, my character probably left before you appeared. The other character involved decided to quit that wood immediately as well, though probably one Cantr hour after my character. We've been travelling together for quite some time, looking for a place with food.

"In that case I must have misunderstood your French"

Hehe - entirely possible - I don't even understand my French all the time :) it's been a long time since I've used my French so I'm a little rusty and relying a lot on Googles translate function mixed with my internal instinct of what sounds right...

Don't worry too much about that, nobody knows everything. Actually I'm studing Romanistics (French language, literature & culture) at university, so I should know French, but I don't really... yet

Stick to Alain, he's a native and I noticed he tries to correct me by repeating things that I said wrong.

It's not boom hauers fault that he speaks in incomprehensible mumbles, I tell you what.
