Not quite true, I didnt find out until after I read your notes. I knew WHO you were, but not that much about you. I would have liked this to have been kept quiet, however, I want to try to pretend that hes alive for a while... so whoever has players there... just remember the CR.

Plus... I HAD to do something with my oldest char. My last oldest char was Mogul Lord, so I needed someone to use all the minutes M-L used to use.

Choice? We were given a choice? I surely wasn't. I was born, I stated my name, I was dragged into the workshop and they gave me some rice. "You work here." - Not much of a choice, in my eyes. Was thwe other decision death? :P

Don't get me wrong I hate LAD. But there arethings to do. The only problem with it is there are not enough people joining the guard. The roman empire had huge armies. each governed by different generals. if lad had happy people and a larger armed forces then it would be superoir still. the death of one of those generals does not kill an empire it does have devistating effects but it does not destroy it. As I see it LAD needs to change its ways and build up t's strengths doing this you must help the people first. once the people are happy and you allow them to have open buisness. and trade then they will be more apt to support it's empire.

Newspawn: I want to start a farm.
Empire: Sure but remember you must serve the empires forces for a year or so and that everything is still the property of the empire.
Newspawn: What does that mean?
Empire: you do what you like with your farm provide you give some to the empire for it's purposes and if the empire requires then you give more or go off and serve it's forces
empire: *gives tools for farm cloths eta eta
Newspawn: Ok sure thing

Then have soldiers actually patrol
and citizens actually do what they want as long as they support the empire.
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

I think Naron is pretty well off, but I do question how much longer until the people rebel. But the thing is there are no more than half a dozen actual citizens, and a bunch more Guards+ the two sleepy officials.

If your char didn't have a choice it was a slip by the official that they dealt with, and also at any time any citizen was allowed to place a requist to enter a different line of work, but know what I know know, the officials probly haven't been doing what they were sopposed to for sometime. If things had been done exactly to the tee as what was ordered by Hawthorne then you would have gotten a choice.

But yes, the fourth choice was death.

That all sounds like a republic, not an empire, no empire I know of from history has ever been that loose with their property. In Imperial Rome for instance a man had to serve in the army until he was 40 and then he was REQUIRED to marry and produce offspring for the empire's benefit, not until the day they died did they not fall under the direct control of the Empire. And in a real empire there is no such thing as "free enterprise".

"Democractic" Rome on the other hand would have been very close to what you describe.

Actually, from what I knew, they had too big of a guard. They wouldn't let my chars join...

That's the case in Naron. Guards seem to outnumber of Citizens, and thats how its been for the last half hundred days.

They're recruiting aggressively now. Equipment might be an issue, but manpower is something Lad possesses in abundance.

Before the disaster in Brinks forest the Imperial Guards consisted off probly about 30% of the Empire's population, which is alot, but Hawthorne was pushing for closer to 50%.

And if Hawthorne's orders had been followed then Lad and Naron both should have been recruiting aggressivly for a while now, that was one of Hawthorne's last orders to all gov officials, it's not as if he lead the attack unknowing of what could happen. And equipment isn't an issue, or shouldn't be, I know what was in storage in Naron and Lad.

For a while almost what I would calculate 75% of the spawn populace was getting picked off the street in Naron for the Guard, but its balanced off now since there seems to be very few spawns. ::looks for some active ones:: They're sorta like WMDs, just ain't there.

Yeah, but a good rule to follow when recruiting large groups is that only about half of the people you find are going to stay awake long enough to be useful. And with the new spawning rules no place is getting as many newspawns as they used to, used to be about one spawn a day in places like Siom, Krif and Lad, now it's down to about one every three days.
