Yeah, Cantr is not yet really supportive for elite assassins. Maynard came closest to him yet, I figure.

I'd like to have a char like Carrot, actually.

I think my Mac Gregor is kind of like Sgt. Angua, albeit without the whole turning-into-a-wolf thing.

I'd like to have a Vetinari char, but my politician-type is sadly fallible. Pity. He has been known to dabble in political assassination, though.

Well, my comes from Firefly and from a script that was never filmed. The scipt was called "Dead and Alive" and was about Serenity being made to go after someone that had sabotaged an Alliance Facility. Mal says this particular line to the Alliance Commander that comandeers his ship.

Yep, the thread was indeed about signatures... Don't you complain, cuz UR spamming Firefly in about every thread, now it's discworlds turn!

Got them all... That is, all available... Couldn't find his last book anywhere.

Capre Jugulem, summin like "seize the throat". Not one of the best tho, the uberwald setting is great, but I don't really like the Sam Vimes character so much... Favourite book is "small gods". Favo Chgaracter is death (Gotta love those confused conversations with the deceased, only half realizing they're dead), Vetinary is cool, (Funny how he transformed from the hated dictator to a quite loveable (Albeit dangerous) char, Death of rats (SQUEEK), Carrot and ofcourse Nobby...

Anyway, it's great how Pratchett manages to put our society with all it's issues in a fantasy world, and even make it funny as hell. Come to thinkl of it, Discworld looks a bit like Cantr (No, cantr is not carried by 4 elephants (5 minus the "Schmalzberg") on the back of the great A-Tuin)) but the tech level reminds me of it... In the Discworld the setting is mainly medieval, but with some higher tech level objects introduced. (The printing press, signalling stations, photocamers's, traffic police, etc.).

Fine if you want to play it that way... there is a writter named Terry Brooks he writes very good fantasy books, The Sword of Shannara and every other book in The Shannara series is excellent. Also has another series called Landover, look him up if your into fantasy books that deal with gnomes, elves, trolls, dwarfs, humans, and a few more species here and there. Another writer im sure alot of you have heard of Anne Rice, very good books, The Vampire Chronicles.

Should i go on or have i babbled enough about those two authors?

Isn't Carpe Jugulum set mostly in Lancre? Anyway, I think Discworld could be a good lesson for the people who think that since we have cars we should have guns. Discworld has C-Mail, chelonauts, the "Piecemaker" and imp-powered Disorganizers, all of which are obvious analogues of modern technologies (E-Mail, astronauts, bazookas and electronic organizers) but use pre-industrial technology (semaphore, throwing people off cliffs, siege crossbows and . . . imps in cages, I guess). Why not imagine that the crossbow (as someone pointed out on a different thread) is the Cantr analogue of the gun?

Ehm... No, But lancre is set really near the Uberwald...

And yeah, that's why I said that the Discworld and Cantr really look alike...

By the way, the late medieval crossbow beat the early gun in every possible way... the crossbow was slow to reload, but still a lot faster than the early (hand)guns. Crossbows were great for piercing armour, guns used round leadballs, so much for piercing, not to mention range and the fact that guns were inaccurate as hell...

(And gotta love the Dis-organizer... ***bingely-bingely-beep***)
I'll should put some conversations with the dis-nizer here later, funny as hell)

but there was a gun in Diskworld in Men at Arms...or it was called a "gonne" or something... but that was a special case, and look at the problems it caused! so no guns in cantr.
