Well if not he can use Chris's proven technique of crossbar to kneecaps, repeat until successful.

You see boomhauer smash prog dept's kneecaps.

You see boomhauer smash prog dept's kneecaps.

Actually, I shud leave the thinking to the genius.

A constant state of recruitment.

A new life awaits you in the programming department. The chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure, new climate, recreational facilities...

(trivia question: If you replace "programming department" with "Off-World colonies", which movie is that from?)

Blade Runner (great movie). That's too easy.

Back on topic.

I was in favor of seeing every animal that comes in and out of a place be marked so that my character could figure out where the mean ones were coming from and the birth rates of the ones that my characters would like to preserve.

I have changed my mind.

That is just a convienance for me as a player.

If a town wants to know where animals come from they need a person in town and a person at the start of each trail doing round the clock observations. Meaning you would need multiple people in each poistion to do it as perfectly as you can see it today.

This seems realisitic.

Doesn't mean that anything is going to change. I have just changed my vote.

I disagree with pointing out new animals groups appearing for the same reason. You won't know that the wolverines are upon you until they bite you on the butt unless you notice or someone notices and tell you.

But extending the thought why would we then see people leaving a location?

Whispering, take things, enter buildings - yes

Leaving or arriving in town without a word - no?

Until there is different levels of awareness we have to think about what is best for the one level we all have.

My preference is to get alot of detail. A trap door spider approach. But I can see how that is too much info for others who lack skimming skills.

And all the detail is not healthy for the game at the current time which is what I come back to most often. Keeping the game operating well is better than anything neat thing that contributes to down time and slowness.

How difficult would it be to make it so "notifcation/movement" items appear a couple of shades of colour more subdued from the dialog text?

ie.

a man in his twenties says: "Hey there Meh, get of yer butt and code some now"

a man in his thirties enters the forum coming from General Discussion

two bugs scurry across the screen heading for Capital Rule Breaches

Meh says "Screw all of you. I'm coding as fast as I can"

---

We could probably find a colour that is still legible but doesn't display as strongly as dialog / direct actions (ie when someone hits you).

This makes it really easy to skim over when reading so those who don't want all the deatil can more easily gloss over it.
