New Idea - Torn Clothing

Postby N-Aldwitch » Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:14 am

Hey guys, haven't been on in a while.
Simple suggestion to bring the clothier industry up, it's a more advanced, refined version of someone else's idea about clothing degradation.

If you suffer more than 50% damage, give or take, your clothes have a chance of being torn. Any more damage and the clothes of course suffer a higher chance of being torn.

Only your shirt can be torn.

"he is wearing a [] blue shirt with flowers in it."
turns to
"he is wearing a [torn] blue shirt with flowers in it."
Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

Why couldn't this also be used for pants?

Because people mainly aim for the midsection? And torn pants would lead into quite racy mental images. Like have you seen this one picture where a guy's leg has been chewed off by a bear and you can see his-- okay, you don't need to know that.

If the body was split into sectors and it would randomly hit one or people could even try aiming for different sectors then it might work better.

This suggestion is not quite thought out since what if the person wears a dress or a robe? That would cover the same area as a shirt and even more. Or what if they have a coat or a cloak and get hit in the back, and are they wearing the coat or cloak closed or open? Also I'd be more worried about blood than cuts. But since most people hate these things, it can just be left for rp.
