I think it'd be nice to have both dynamic naming of keys and labels. The dynamic naming would simulate the character's memory of what the key is for (House key, etc), whereas a label would allow anyone to see what the key is for. Whether the characters decide to use labels, of course, would be up to them.

I see the dynamic naming as working the same as dynamic character naming: If there is a modified name like 'house key', that is displayed, but if there isn't a modified name, the default 'key number 3838974' is displayed. And onlyt the character would see the modified 'house key' name, of course.

How about, in addition to or instead of dynamic key naming, you have the option of putting a name on the key at key/lock creation.

If you think about it, the serial number (that everyone can see) has to be on the key somewhere, and had to get there somehow at its creation, so why not a name instead?

Have a project like sign changing, except it would be for keys. It would need a file.

Look it this whay. You hav a key whith serial number, just like in real world. And you not just carve some name on the key, you add label on it. Have you ever see a man with lots of keys? They all have labels on them. So dinamic description would be the perfeckt thing.

I think this possibility should be on all objects.
