Mental Imagery of Locations
Sort of a random topic.... I was just curious how different regions might be visualized differently by different people.
I see the Pok Mountains as being a sort of barren, rocky wasteland as seen in "The Man who Planted Trees." I see the forests on Treefeather mostly as dark green, pine forests. I see the Moku/Olipifirovash Coast as being a sort of rocky Newfoundland style coast.
I visualize Nonirowk as being a sort of tropical island. (The wide-spread imaginary existence of the Pond in Karnon astounds me.)
I'm curious how these might relate or contrast to the mental images of other.

What does this mean?
I don't think of the K-Island as tropical at all. I think of it pretty much as England and the era as Robin Hood-ish.
Kiii and that area I definitely think of as tropical because of the Toucans mostly. I always see palm trees there. Also, there is a street named Kiii in Honolulu, so that helps.
Most of the forest I think of as Oak forests. The hills are mostly like the grassy hills in South Dakota (think Dances with Wolves landscape). A lot of the seaports are like those in New England or Ireland.
The mountains I mostly picture as the Rockies, vast, snowy and breathtaking. Once, I took the train from Denver to Los Angeles and I saw three American Eagles sitting in a tree watching the train go by. Sometimes I imagine the high mountain valley where that happened.
Siom is kind of industial, Kwor could be very early San Francisco, Seatown Forest is a glorified longing camp, Seatown Gardens is the agricultural area around Santa Barbara, California. The deserts are Joshua Tree National Park, Death Valley, the Utah Canyonlands or Arizona/New Mexico.

Kiii has a sandy beach with coconut palms leaning over the water. The plants are certainly tropical but do not grow very densely due to limited water supplies. The land is mostly covered in grass although it's no good for harvesting, and towards the desert it starts getting dry and brown. Some areas have been cleared for cultivation of potatoes.
Lake Village is set in this nook between two mountains. Hmm, now I'm starting to think of something like Little Heidi, with the Alps. Grass creeping up the sides of the mountains but they soon get too steep for anything to have a proper foothold. There's lots of daisies growing around. The shore is rather muddy although there is an area with more sand than mud, and the water looks rather brown near the shore. Further on the lake it's very blue and clear. Between the lake and the mountains there's a little somewhat flat area that is covered in mud huts that try to follow some imaginary streets, although the newest ones are just scattered about where the land starts to rise. There are a lot of potato patches and the land is good and moist.
I should go to school now... This is an interesting topic though.

I've always pictured Kwor's coast as very rocky and polluted. On the whole, I visualize things as they are in North America. Forests I typically think of old growth forests with very little light coming through the canopy. Hills next to mountains can be very high (like in The Sound of Music) while hills without mountains are lower rolling things.
I too think of Noniwrok as very "England," but Burgeo is definitely tropical due to the fauna.

Ooh, ooh, Blojt! Has a stinky harbour. With corpses floating in the docks ever so often. Reminds me of Waterdeep in Forgotten Realms.
And here's Xiria forest for you:

Well, actually the pictures are from near my place but that's what I imagined Xiria forest to look like. Growing mostly spruce with bright green moss covering the floor.

K-island : semi-tropical, also hot and humid.
Cantr Island : Sunny and warm in some places. However the swamps near Tircqi and the Blaman Mountains are cold, barren and unwelcoming.
Treafeather Island : Haven't had a character there for a while, but I'd say something similar to England, despite the fact I've never been to England.

just a thing, ain't it a little stupid to have a island called Cantr? After its the name of the game right? The chars don't know they are cantrians right? Or instead of human beings the chars are cantrians? ( If that was true that would stop the question: " why are we born with 20 years?" and lots more...)
just asking...
just asking...

Exactly, Cantr Island is home to Cantr City and Cantr Fields. Back in the day when locations were pre-named, spawning in Cantr City seemed special. ... the game is named Cantr and you spawned in the city of the same name.

My charrie on the island knows the 'Cantr' name, and would propably use it if he needed to, bgecouse that's how this island is called on maps (Gallagher and Black atlasses, ...)
About islands apparances according to my imagination:
Burgeo: like Africa, fields like savannah with lions, elephants and rhinos, jungle forests with gorrilas... and a paradise for hunters
K-island: I don't know it very well, but becouse of the fauna it seems to me like bit western-style North America.
Cantr: central Europe (I mean Germany, northern France, maybe bit British)
Pok: well, they have cotton there, and desert turtles... something like mediterrian, or southern France... maybe southern North America, too
Omeo: simmilar to Pok, but dryier and hotter. Up to now I've seen just the fields of it's south-west part, and they seemed to me something like south-american pampa.
