Resizable projects
You should be able to change the size of projects that have not been worked on. The upper limitation should be a maximum size of that project and the lower limitation should be a amount of resources already spent on it. A dung drying project where halve the dung is already added, could be changed to a project half its size, but not smaller.
One of the benefits of this suggestion is that machines can't be blocked with huge projects where only a fraction of the resources is put in.

Ya I know I can't be the only person who hates it when some newspawn just put in the littlest bit of project material on something useless and then die so the machine just stays blocked for years
When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

Possible abuse:
Some towns have public buildings with machines.
Say mr. X sets up an iron smelting project, adds half the stuff to it, because he is crushing the rest of the hematite into iron ore to use on it, in another room or building.
While he is working, somewone comes along, changes the project size, works on it for a short while (well, a few hours - short to Cantr standards) and makes off with the metal.
The iron might not be the best example, but crushing hematite, for example, would be a better example...
Or, indeed, drying dung.
Say you set up a project in the mountains to dry enough dung to be able to grill enough meat to stay alive in the mountains while you dig for hematite which they would pay well for in, say, Dorian (just an example).
But you don't yet have enough dung - just need to off that one last goat...
You already hit it today, so you reckon you'll nap until you can hit it again.
Your latest hematite dig left you with full arms, so the dried dung would end up on the ground if it was completed now.
Along comes someone in their twenties, spends a few hours drying the dung, and grabs the dried dung...
A far-fetched example, I know, but it's not the dried dung or the hematite/iron ore/iron... it's the mechanics that I'm talking about.
So it could be abused.
Still, I like the idea... after all, nowadays newspawns can grab anything that isn't bolted down too, and even some of my older chars got lucky when they... um.... "found" some things which were left somewhere without anyone guarding it.
Heck, one of them even struck a small jackpot today that would keep him/her/it (I ain't telling!) alive for quite a while with the addition of just one fairly common ingredient...

Well for those people you only do half the resources it is there fault, this will teach people to start the project only after they are sure they have everything

re
personally when i set up a huge project in a hostile town warning people it's hostile I don't want it resized along with a whole bunch of other reasons.

I've set up a few when people get right nasty and lock me up or try and kill me I've been known to leave a few projects with choice names.

I think I could start to attribute a few of the characters I've met to you, buddyhall...
This is something that's been at the back of my head for a while, but I just haven't got around to suggesting it yet: for those criticising it, the amount of abuse the system could suffer would be far less than the current system gets abused; and this would make the project system, one of the most unrealistic elements of Cantr, far more flexible and realistic: in real life, if you leave some something lying around with no friends to guard it, you shouldn't be surprised if someone runs off with it -- and the same applies to projects with materials used on them.
I think that this ability should apply not only to projects that have not been worked on, but could also be resized by the project initiator even after they have been worked on up to 50%... or maybe there's a simpler rule to use on it.

And that's why people like you shouldn't be playing this game.

Is there any other kind? if not all the resources have been added, it can't be worked on. But I agree that only the project initiator should be able to resize the project unless their not around.
I also agree with Torkess about you Buddyhall, using the game mechanics to get back at other characters is very bad RP.
