Personally, I find it rude to kill old charries >.>

Could just be me, but I can't seem to shake the feeling that im taking away from someone who had invested probably a year into character development, and to take it all away in 2-4 days.

You can't let your personal thoughts about the players behind the characters affect how your characters would treat them though. If you have a bloodthirsty character, that character is not going to care whether they kill an old man or a young man. It's not rude; it's playing the game how it should be played. Doesn't mean as a player you can't feel sorry for the other player, but it shouldn't keep you from doing what your char would do.

I completely agree, Zanthos. I can never bring myself to do that, not that I've ever had a successful pirate charrie or anything either, though. But these are charries with a wealth of experience and memories, and very likely still active lives.

Respect your elders!

I'd think, as your charries grow older, their fear of travel increases.

Well, typically the evil charries I play would rather not outright kill someone. Maybe imprison them for a long time, do whatever, but not kill in cold blood. If I had to, I'd kill someone, but...

I have to say, in general my charries have respect for those older than them. Even a pirate will respect some people, they may not listen to them or follow their rules, but they'll show some degree of respect, be it only half kill or only steal all their valuables.

Age has nothing to do with respect in Cantr or real life. Most of mine respect those that are respectful in turn; most would respect others until the others gave them a reason to not respect them. Most wouldn't kill in cold blood. But the ones that would do not discriminate because of age (unless for some odd reason it fit that character). One might never kill young people because it was looking for material items, which older people would have more of. Another might never kill older people because it just likes to gleefully watch young lives wither and waste before them; caring nothing for material items. But it all comes down to the character and their morals. Not mine.

I'd consider not listening or following the rules as disrespectful... Half killing and stealing valuables is disrespectful as well... so... I would say that char would not have any degree of respect for the elder it spared.

The ones I have that might be called evil do not consider themselves evil. They only consider themselves preserving their way of life and their morals. It is others that would label them as evil because they do not agree.

A good majority of my characters respect power and power only.
I find it hilariously stupid how frequently a bone knife newspawn will expect a rich, experienced, strong leader to treat him fairly. Not to say it's a bad thing to play a character like that, but it's just odd how the ratio slants so much to the one side, where in realty it would slant to the other.

From what I experienced with the majority of my chars, they tend to have some natural respect for those that are older than them while they are still young.
The older they grow, though, the more that "natural respect" or, in some cases, "awe of age", sort of wears off and they'll respect elders who are wise, or who inspire respect in other ways (leading an honorable clan, leading a long solitary life while helping others, teaching others, that kind of stuff) while they won't hesitate to cut down an elder who causes the slightest bit of trouble.
One of my (now dead) chars spawned with a strong disrespect towards most who were older, accusing them of being greedy cowards who only cared for themselves from the start.... but when he reached that same age, he had no qualms about teaching other young folk a hard lesson if they got in his way.
Surprisingly, while I intended him to become a warrior (hence the disrespect and the attitude, to help get him into fights) the only time he actually got to kill someone it was a thieving spawn who made the mistake of angering that char of mine.
Funny, how different a char can become from how a player intended that character to be...

Heh... well, yes and no. Spawn in Lakeside and break a law or disrespect Loki, and your char might not make it to an old age...
(A few of my chars have had the twisted pleasure of seeing chars go from spawn to hobo to target practice.... on my earliest accounts my main beef was that people would kill someone upon spawning, but dangit, it's just so entertaining to see an unwilling spawn be straightened out the hard way lol...)

There's lots of chars like that. I have one that tolerates no disrespect. And I've been there to help with those hobo target practices from time to time. lol

I wish I had my original girls. My first account timed out the day I got my internet back :( They would have been close to 100 now I think...

But I have all of my original 6 girls on this account and they are all in their early to mid 60's now

I have both of my original characters, and 3 out of my 4 first ones.

I still have my 5th and my 12th character.

Personally, I don't let age get in the way of war, murder or kidnappings. If anything, it makes it more interesting for other characters as well as mine. You'd expect someone who's 90 or so to have seen and done a lot of things in cantr, and coming close to death always makes an interesting story to tell the newspawns later. Characters who remember the Barons or those that remember the war with the Blackrocks are just a lil more interesting then those that stayed in a safe place all their life.
Cantr wars are always fun; it's always interesting to see who, out of the old characters, die or live. And those that die are remembered, unlike the unknown, frontline newspawn soldier who won't be remembered by anyone.

I just recently killed off all my characters except two. I noticed my activity & RP started to go downhill. As a very old player, a few in the 100's, its not good for a town if their elder/keyholder is asleep. I related to one of Seko's comics where the new spawns wandered around a silent town of sleepers who woke up the moment they picked up a useless trinket from the ground.

Just like an athlete who stays 5 years too long in the league, gets traded from his franchise team, and begins to have less than average years... it taints your characters memory to let them get the sleeping sickness only to speak once a year or when a note thief wanders by.

So, to answer the topic, I have only one of my original character:102 years old and one I spawned later who is now 72.
