Guarding
This would be a great thing to implement in Cantr II
In the people section, there could be an icon next to a persons name which indicates to guard them.
Also, in the Animal section, you could tick the animals and press the guard icon.
Like the people, there could be the same icon next to items.
Guarding does:
To people, when some one tries to drag or hit them; you automatically hit them with your selected weapon or just your bare fist...or you could set an option to be defensive and leap in front of the enemy with a shield.
You can set options for people to:
1. Prevent people from hitting them
2. Prevent people from dragging them
3. All of the above
To animals...it is exactly like people, when someone tries to hit it you will do the same as above.
Items are different.
You can set options to:
1. Prevent people from reading the note
2. Prevent people from copying the note
3. Prevent people from taking the note
4. All of the above
When you guard a person they will be notified that you are guarding them and they can set options to:
1. Stop you from guarding them
2. Stop you from guarding them forever
3. Allow you to guard them forever
As you are guarding people can hit you as many times as they want! So if you are going to guard, you should have good armour, protection and weaponry.

There should be a chance of failure then. Generally people don't like the thought of automation in Cantr. In a way I think this is a good suggestion but imagine if someone puts guarding on a person and then doesn't log in for two weeks. Or what if the person they are trying to protect goes insane and starts attacking people and you just automatically attack who ever attacks him because you have a defense mode on. Maybe you could select some people who have the power to "convince" you to drop the guarding task while you're offline.

About the attacking part, I totally disliked the idea as it leads to automatic attacking and there can be many complications as Seko pointed but instead of attacking, guarding can work as sharing the damage the guarded one sustained. You can guard only one person/animal and when the guarded one is attacked, you share a fixed or random percent of the damage sustained.
