How did you first learn about Cantr?
I was bored and searching for free online games. I was drawn in by the phrase "reality simulator" basically.
My first impression was "oh...is this it?" but there was something about it that made me keep playing. That's when I realized how immersing the game is.

During my Runescape phase, I searched around for free online games. Found some, Cantr was one. First impression was "Text-based? That's no good!" and I promptly forgot about it.
Later, in my Esperanto phase, I read a forum post recommending Cantr as a way to learn the language.
I signed up to try it out, expecting to hate it, and have been logging in almost every day since.

Was really bored and started playing a mud that I thought would be interesting. It soon became very boring, but I followed a vote link from there and found cantr while checking out the other games in that top list thing.

I think there's a topic like this elsewhere. Anyway, I found Cantr in MPOGD.com after going through free RPGs in alphabetical order. I read all the background material that was available and I was thinking that it sounds rather ambitious to have so many different language options and kinda strange too, and I was thinking is this game played by some weird language and history enthusiasts. So having several languages and being described as educative was a bit of a turn-off but the things I liked was death being permanent and the part where it says if your idea of fun is leaving a trail of corpses behind then don't bother. It sounded cool that you could be anything you want so I took a long time (well, at least a couple of minutes) figuring out quirks for my two initial characters and deciding the names wasn't that easy either. Then I had to wait overnight for the account to be accepted and meanwhile I was playing some strategy game.
One of my initial characters spawned in a location with just one character (as far as I can remember) and picked up 1 gram of meat and what ever was lying around, spoke privately to the only character in there (most likely a sleeper), tried to bury a corpse but it wasn't processing in real time so I got bored. I also noticed you can't have several projects active at the same time. I was also looking through the build menu and noticed that there are no artifacts that would allow using artistic creativity, there wasn't even pottery at that time. So pretty much the only thing you could rp decorating was a wooden bowl. Though years later that character made some wooden clogs and wrote in her diary that she's putting great effort in decorating them. Also made some crummy ascii art and one rp'ed painting that had the description written on a note and people were supposed to visualize it based on the description.
While my other character spawned in a lively little town and witnessed a mud fight on his second day of life or so, making me think that this game must have a lively rp community like in RWK and even though the game system is limited, the gaps could be filled with rp so it's like a charp with hardcoded items. I also felt a need to tell people OOC that I need to log out now. Also my characters had background histories. Count all the signs of newbie-ishness.

Well, about a year ago, I started playing Cantr with a friend of mine.
We'd just finished playing another game, and we were searcing for something else. And Suddenly we found a game called Cantr...
We started playing, but I got bored soon, and I quit. My friend also did, although he played for 2 weeks more..
But after a month he started playing again, telling me stories about a cool Cantr life..
So, I joined, and I found out how cool the game really is..
And I'm still playing it now!

It went around school for awile, and a friend (He played Bali in Zuzi, not sure if he still plays or not???) introduced me to it. I played it for awile along with about four, five others, all of them quit, leaving just me and the guy who introduced me playing, and then eventually, after two years or so, I quit
