Bowser’s defense was knocked out by AoM with Hyperspeed, and he also took 10 damage from that attack (before all other attacks and powers resolved) to leave him at 110. His declared attack was consequently reduced by 10 to 60, meaning he caused 14 damage after overcoming deadboy's defense of 46, so Bowser gained 7 energy -- leaving him with 117. Bowser subsequently suffered the full 100 damage from deadboy, leaving the former with 17 total. deadboy, meanwhile, suffered 14 damage from Bowser but absorbed 50 from his own Vampire attack, leaving him with a +36 differential and a new total of 125 energy.

Four rounds completed, and five mutant heroes and a snow goon still remain. A testament to the resilience of the almost-human spirit. Or something like that…

*He gives a wide grin* You and me AOLA, we're good, you know that? *He nods* Alright then, its pretty much just you and me left, but for old times sake of our alliance, and in particular me doing what you told me to, how about we finish off HF first so he doesn't step up right at the end and win?

I'll even let you keep Neuman, the Snow Goon and Bowser alive so you get the cosmic shield bonus from them, but only because I'm going to be copying it off you *He winks*

Real smart AOLA. Instead of having me with 120 points of energy, you thought someone that could double his energy to 240, mimic your shield for 50 to 100 more would be less of a threat to you.

Don't think I didn't see it coming... but it was expected. We all end up on the chopping block someday.

*grits his teeth as he thinks about the wound on his back, growing more and more angry with each throb of pain*

All right then, AOLA hasn't replied to me so I'm just going to have a ball out here today. Most of you die. It'll be fun *He grins*. I've got:

OOC: Just so you all know, I'm on holiday for the next two weeks, so I won't be talking, but I've left my next three or so turns with Saztronic so I'll still be using my turns whilst away

OOC: The cool shades power mentions attack, not attacks, correct? So only one of those attacks are doubled?

Oh, and Corinthian. You need me alive to take on HF in spirit form. Otherwise he uses his defense power and slays you. And I'm not above slaying myself to let him beat you.

Nothing more pleasing to me, than to make someone lose when they think they're assured of victory.

Nevermind, apparently it is attacks and defense. Seems I'm going to sacrifice myself to ensure the nightmare behind the glasses is sent his proper way.

*Aola looks down somberly, and the transluscent glow of her cosmic shield dims and winks out*

"The Corinthian (deadboy) has pre-announced his moves. But he has depended upon my power to defend himself.

"I will sacrifice myself before any of his blows are struck, dying before he deals me damage, and taking away ALL of his defense, as my power will no longer exist."

*she looks pityingly upon the Corinthian*

"I failed to tame your power, but without me, you cannot win. We shall both die. My essence shall become one with Mercuria, and you... you shall return to your Lord Shaper."

ROUND FIVE RESOLUTION

As soon as her last word hits the air, AOLA the Mercuriate opens two rifts in space time on either side of her, turns them, then touches their edges together. The effect is immediate and lethal, a small supernova of energy that flares, white on white, before winking out and taking AOLA and the hopes of her people with it.

THE CORINTHIAN has no time to change his plans; for the second time in this battle, he casts his pattern net over someone who is no longer there, no longer able to mimic the power he craves. Still, he is determined to do some damage if he's to take some. He loosens his grip on the bolts of plasma he's been hoarding, sending them streaking in every direction. One hits SNOW GOON TWO, and a second as well, as THE ICE DEMON takes cover behind his creation. The goon is vaporized. The biggest bolt flies through empty space and fizzles, targeting the spot AOLA vacated.

THE VAMPIRE is also hit, but gives more than he gets; channeling all his rage and fury, he strikes at THE CORINTHIAN like a creature possessed. The energy he absorbs offsets the damage he takes and strengthens him even further.

Having dodged the attacks sent his way, THE ICE DEMON creates yet another snow goon, twin to the others. THE SPIRIT begins to suspect the others do not know it is in the chamber. It does not mind.
