I have a character lost at sea... X, is 39 now and I think he left when he was 25, there abouts, if not earlier. So 14 years at sea, luckily his companion died some time ago or by now they'd be starving.

I've had a couple of characters get this now, and it's every bit as pointless and annoying as I expected it to be. Those with more wealth, to whom food is not an issue, just ignore it. Those with less wealth, for whom food is more difficult to come by or is worth something, have to keep dropping it and picking it up in bits, and generally faffing around. I don't find it fun, I just find it annoying, more like a bug than a game feature.

I have a good idea what the cause might be, since those characters who have caught it have had one thing in common at the time they developed it. However, neither of them have any IC reason for suspecting this cause (if I am right, which I may not be), nor do they have any IC reason for acting in such a way that would prevent them catching it again in future. So I'm stuck between a CRB and a BUG. Or just a BUG if I've not guessed correctly :-(

On the bright side, every location that gets the eating bug does RP it for about a day or two. Adds a few extra lines of dialogue to the events screen at least. Although it's normally quite repetitive :

a man in his twenties says : Oooh. I've come over all peculiar
a man in his thirties says : I'd sit in a cot for a day or two if i were you
a man in his twenties says : Okay!
[end scene]

I'm sure there is some currently unforseen benifit to it. Maybe some islands don't have it and it will be fascinating to watch it spread.

I agree. I'm still waiting for a "sickness" that causes random items in your inventory to disappear. :?

a man in his twenties says: Hey, where's my saber? I was just holding it and now it's gone!

a man in his thirties says: Looks like you've got a case of the 'vanishing sickness'. You better lay down on a cot for while.

a man in his twenties says: This sucks.

 Sometimes you guys really makes me laugh.

EDIT:

I belive to have cracked this case about 'eating too much sikness'. I'm pretty sure about it. But as always... Find that out IC. This one won't leak.

I was always under the impression that you keep the sickness until you eat as much food as is necessary to make it go away. Meaning it is cured by eating a certain quantity of food. Thus, if you only eat a little it will be drawn out for a long time.

I'm testing this theory right now.

One or two of my characters may think they know why that they have eaten too much.
I as well am not saying anything. I can not. Only my characters know.

Some of my characters are adding strength! Only too bad i still can't say if this is related or not but two of them are now shown as 'much stronger than average' when it was only 'stronger than average' and both of them have suffered the eating-a-lot-anomaly 3 times total and none of my other chars have.

One of my charries got the sickness, but I RPed the faintness thing alright. It was kind of fun, in a sadistic kind of way. And I finally have a charrie who isn't weak! It's a turn up for the books, that's for sure.

My char ate nothing at all from the time she became feint and the sickness went away in three days. She got pretty hungry though, more than usual for three days, I think.

Yes, she was traveling in a vehicle so she dropped her food. After her description stopped saying she felt feint she picked it up and started eating again.
