Cantr Themed Morrowind Mod

Postby FierceRabbit » Wed Jul 25, 2007 12:14 am

Would anyone be interested in this? Or does anyone around here still play Morrowind? I've had this game uninstalled for awhile (space issues on my hard drive) but I'm putting it back right now, and feel like making a mod based somewhat on a cantr town. I can't exactly remake the whole continent, but putting a cantrish place in the existing setting would be neat.

Do you folks think this sounds interesting? Or would I be better off just trying to do something with the Sims 2?

I've never played Morrowind, I'm sad to say, but I know there's plenty of demand for Sims 2 stuff. What's it like anyway?

Morrowind? I guess basically put it's kind of like a single player MMORPG. It's a really big game world with many options, but you're the only one in it.

Sadly, I only have morrowind for the xbox, but if you follow through with the mod, be sure to post some screens!

I'm already in the process of making a Risk board out of the Treefeather/Scarab/Hobbes area. :)

Woah... just woah... Not really sure how you'd work it though... aside from having a town full of semi-naked people bumbling around doing odd jobs... that is, unless of course, you have the proper skinning/modeling software... in which case, have fun. I'd have to re-find a copy of Morrowind to play it... but hey, that's no tough thing to do.

The thing is, it'd be difficult for me to do some kind of full conversion. I've no experience whatsoever with coding. I was going to start with taking a town from Cantr and putting in some themed quests.

I think Oblivion would be best (better textures for the setting, and the option to make better-looking npcs) but I don't have it and many people couldn't play it--I'm not even sure I can! I could do something neat with Baldur's Gate II, but I hear it's difficult to mod.

NAY!

that be a CRB thar! Silly, you have to use maps to do that, and distrubuting the board is in clear violation of the CR.

But i'd play you any time! Also... can you attack from any port to any other port?

Heh, you know I never thought of it as publishing a map, but I guess it sorta is. :?

Oh well. None of my friends play cantr anyways, it just gives me something to do with my hands. *shrug*

Oh, and no, There'll be some nice choke points when it comes to attacking overseas. I was planning on making some mods to the rules, in order to make it more cantr related, but haven't really thought about it yet. Also considering making Mountains like water, as in you can only pass at certain points. Dunno.

Make it for oblivion and I'd play it

That would be ideal, considering all the animals of the area I'd do are already in there--but I don't have the game yet myself and Morrowind has fewer system requirements--I want to make it as accessible as possible, considering it serves a mostly niche audience anyway. :)

I'd love to do Oblivion, though...

Hey, Rabbit, thanks for posting that link! You've inspired me to get Morrowind as soon as I get a decent laptop to play it on. My PC absolutely SUCKS, both of them. (one is over ten years old and has practically given up the ghost. It crashes whenever it does anything strenuous, and that can range from switching between songs on WMP (it can repeat the same song over and over indefinitely...), browsing on My Computer or simply booting it up  the second one isn't so bad, but it has only five gig hard drive, two gig more than the other one. I so badly want a laptop...)

But yeah, I'd be interested when I get it, if ever. You wouldn't happen to know the best laptop to go for in the £300 to £450 price range would you? Lower in the scale would be preferable, considering my tight budget...

It's a great game! I never made it through the main quest, mind, but it's fun. And you can get the original game and both expansions for about $20.

As far as laptops--I've no idea. I'm happy with my Dell. If you want to play games (Not just Morrowind--and I have no idea whether I'd ever be able to make this mod in the first place, for the record!) make sure you get a decent graphics card.

Hmm, graphics card... I don't have many games I play on the pc now. I have Blades of Exile (if anyone's heard of it :P ) and keep a few GBA roms of old games that got stolen a year or two ago by some evil night burglar. I would probably get The Sims 2 at some point as well, though I would guess that would be a big drain on everything.

And $20?!? That's £10!! Where can I get that from? That's one great deal.

you can get it from wherever with that price.

Hell, I got command and conquer the first decade (5 games) for 15 bucks.

Almost any new laptop over £300 will play Morrowind... It's an old game... Hence it can be got so cheap (I got it with the two expansions for £15 about six months ago...

Anyways, as for laptops, if you only have a bit to spare, and you can't be bothered pissing around, just go for Dell.
