Release dates are:
January 1st
April 1st
July 1st
October 1st

That's every three months. Four times a year.

Elros, editors edit articles (and compile them as needed, as you mentioned.) We also discuss between us what articles we have available to publish, write our own articles, and chase up articles that people have promised us. We try to think of ideas for new and interesting items, and try to encourage everyone else to contribute something to the zine. And, finally, we upload the whole thing for your enjoyment.

Not to disagree with my colleague, but personally I think we're okay as far as editors. What we really need is more input. Regular input is especially welcome! :D

Dropped the seasonal equinox/solstice release cycle? :(

And from my venerable and lengthy experience, I agree with Ulo...having too many (i.e. more than 2) editors is counter productive: Law of diminishing returns.

*drops his head* But... but I wanted more friends. *looks up with those sad eyes* Please?

Hehe, I don't mind. I noticed there were almost always two editors at one time, so I figured it would stay that way :) I wouldn't mind some of you fellow players to submit though. I do have to say, your articles are always more interesting then our own. Sorry Ulo... they are though. We are restricted in the fact that we need to make a few articles, they aren't restricted so.

Elros, I would love to see more of your work on my screen. As I tell Ulo here, I like reading that stuff, even if its 'work'. I hope, some day, to have more articles on average, so that you guys can be entertained with our rambling even longer :P

*smiles* I am glad you like it. I also sent Sunni a travelling poem for the next webzine.

Actually, I was never aware of this kind of schedule. We decided on our current release schedule because it's simple and easy to understand. To be honest, I'm not even sure exactly when the equinoxes and solstices are, but I think these dates are probably quite close.

Such ignorance!!

That's when the seasons officially change due to the movements of the earth/sun. So it's basically the "first day of Autumn, Winter, etc." Usually the 21st-ish (can range from 20th-23rd) of Sept, Dec, March, June.

This policy has been in place for some time now as some of the contributors mentioned. I highly recommend sticking to it. We used the 1st of each of those months as the deadline for articles to give time to actually edit/proofread/format the articles. Besides, it adds flair and intellect, as well as a better understanding of the OOC world Cantrians so oft ignore.

Trying to share best practices. ;)

Though I like the idea of the equinox/solstice thing (it is the only schedule I knew of for the Zine), the first of certain months will be easier for most readers to remember. As for the ignorance you claim of the current Zine staff, perhaps they should've been better informed by the previous staff. ;)

I don't think it has any more "flair" or "intellect" either way, so long as you set a specific date for things to be due to have time to edit. It is better to say deadlines are the 15th (or whatever date before the 1st) of March, June, September and December than simply "please leave us time to edit them". With a set deadline, you have plenty of time to edit, and if you do get something in a little late, you should probably end up with enough time to edit it, too. You could also set a personal date after which you won't accept or edit anything, then your issues could be on time.

Well, it's not for not trying or providing the information readily. ;) But enough of that.
