I like canabalism and head taking, but I think ya'll are geting a bit too complicated with it. I say strip it down to strait meat, hide, and bone b/c those already exist. Let's face it, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between human hide and boar hide anyway. Also since humans weigh so much more than animals, it might be excessive to give an equal weight out to in since I dont think elephanst even provide 60 kilos of resources. I say the project "carving a human" should have about 5 kilos of meat, 5 kilos of bone, 3 kilos of hide, 3 kilos of dung, and a 1 kilo head and about 42 kilos of "human remains" that can be transported and for burial like a resouce. It should probably also take about 2 days considering it's yeild. It would probaly be worth a lot to anyone who is desperate enough to canibalize the dead. There should also be a 2 hour decapitation project that would take just the head.

Yes, I kinda ment the head idea to remain that way. Hard to prove who's head it is afterall without.

This was suggested along with the taking of Cantriian hides for various shamanistic/Evil characters. Not happening soon methinks. Search for MEAT, in the forum.

I like the head taking idea also, quite awakening to the fact that Cantr is as brutal as the real world, but less painful :P

You people wanna add some "reality" to cantr, so, if you wanna a really realistic cannibalism, there should be the "CANNIBAL DISEASE"!!!!MWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH COF-COF-COF argh, too much evil laughing.Ok, back to "cannibal disease" it's a simple name to what would occur to people who often pratice canibalism. It would make basically the character suffers a lot, then he dies...sorry, I couldn't get the information in a form who everybody would understand and it become miserable....But it's a real disease, that's know as "kuru" by the papuans that's a variation of the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease that's when the person gets a special protein, the prion, a problematic protein that spread by the brain and the nervous sistem as fire in a forest. The lucky who gets it won't live for more than 2, max.3 months, rarely he will be relly lucky and live one year suffering before his death

I would have to agree with gran on the point of reality, and it would make it a little bit more undesirable to eat other cantarians (other than the fact that all those guy's over there with big pointy metal things don't want you to).

To explain it quickly, for no apparant reason, it's something in the d.n.a. becaus were so close to each other, or it's something in the blood.

and also, gran... we should so meet up in the irc sometime. 'caus you remind me of me...

PREPARE SICOFONTE BECAUSE YOU WON THE 1.000.000.000US$ ASNWER!!!

The Mad Cow disease is a variation of the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and it was caused by the same reason as the "Kuru".Seems that some factories started producing cow food with parts of...bovines, then the cows got prions and you know the rest....

But I can't know how much corpses the Cannibals would have to eat to get the disease.
Says that the "Kuru" was caused in native pupulations of New Guinea because the praticed the cannibalistics rituals.yhese rituals were made when, i don't know wright, the related dies and the family or the village eats ther body(somebody:eww :x !) and I think that rituals aren't quite common. They wouldan't be praticed often(exceptions when some psyco native liked the taste  )

Try get some imformation about the disease and the variations, then stabilish a padron...
or you can use for experiences the simple padron:"Eat cantrians often...then you die by the kuru..."

http://www.as.ua.edu/ant/bindon/ant570/Papers/McGrath/McGrath.htm wrote:PrPC is the normal, cellular prion protein, and it is converted into PrPSc (Prusiner, 1997). Mutations in the 102nd codon of this gene have been linked to neurodegeneration, which is the main, encompassing attribute of the prion diseases. Prusiner (1995) identified 15 amino acids at one end of the PrP protein. Using this knowledge, molecular probes were constructed and used to study the sequences of the normal verses the mutated form of the gene (Prusiner, 1995). Specifically, Prusiner discovered that the amino acid leucine is substituted by the amino acid proline (Prusiner, 1995). An incident of this type is commonly known as a point mutation. In the case of prion proteins, this mutation encodes additional copies of an octapeptide repeat toward the 5' end (Krakauer et al., 1997). The normal protein consists of mainly alpha helices with a spiral backbone, but the new, mutated prion protein is predominately formed by beta strands with a fully extended backbone (Prusiner, 1995). This alteration in tertiary structure provides evidence for post-translational modification of the protein.

According to this website, Kuru isn't caused by eating other people. Kuru is caused by a problem with DNA called a point mutation that causes the body to produce misformed proteins called prions. If the prions are not destroyed by proteasomes, then the body will attempt to use them as normal proteins, and bad things happen. The site mentions several prion diseases (like scrapie and Mad Cow Disease) where the brain is perforated, causing insanity.

So, if I am not mistaken, kuru wouldn't be obtained by eating another healthy person. Someone would have to contract kuru before being eaten for the disease to spread. Considering kuru doesn't exist in Cantr, spreading kuru through cannibalism would be excessive.

I've exceeded my nerd quota for the day... sorry about that.

You are weight that point...is needed that some idio..huh lucky guy have to be victim of a mutation...But as I know, the disease wouldan't cause insanity, would cause a painful death, but, sure, the guy could be insane in the period before his death  and when Kuru is not caused by cannibalism but by mutation it's called Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. That's a chance that someone get's a natural mutation to start the disease. But cannibalism without the disease would be.....look:Every human, bovine, ovine, who ate other of their proper specie got the disease in some moment...you can't evict.

Okay, I want to see this get implemented. If it was, hypothetically, how would it be done?

I think that is simply not true. It like saying that every homosexual gets the HIV sooner or later.
Kuru is a disease like any other disease, just with a very special way of transmission. You can get it from eating other people, but it's not inevitable.

By the way, if I remember right the disease was most common in the women and children, because they were the ones who got traditionally the brain and the other second class meat. Cannibalism in Cantr should be save if you keep the right bits.
