Man #1: Dear sir, I must say, I am quite distressed that you killed my wife and I am going to show you my displeasure.

Man #2: Well I must say ol' chap, while I did not know that was your wife, I will not apologize for the actions which I partook in.

Man #1: You are quite the villain aren't you?

Man #2: *smiles* Yes, quite.

Man #1: I hope you enjoy perishing.

Man #2: Cheers!

Man #1 kills Man #2 with a crossbow.

That's just boring!

I agree, hehe, that's really funny. :D

Well, I don't see anything wrong with swearing. It can express frustration, anger and can even be offensive, which is perfect for Cantr. If you get rid of swearing you might also want to get rid of all insults, including words such as "silly", "doofus" and "idiot". Personally, if any swear words are used to offend me in real life then I would probably be really offended, but it happens and Cantr is supposed to simulate life.

if you dislike them IG then tell the charrie IG (and maybe ooc as well in a tell)

This could potentially resolve your issues while addin to RP
Person: Akamada doesnt control the animals.
You see a wild boar attack Person.
Person: I still dont believe you.

My characters will curse when something goes really wrong, ie a poorly planned attack or something. However, most of my female characters don't swear. As for Felin Ginger, I can't recall her swearing.

Certain words have no place in Cantr because their definitions don't exsist... there are arguments that religion..RL religion should not be in Cantr... but with claims being made, it is ok to swear... this is jut something to think about...

If God does not exsist... how can he damn anything? What is hell... if there is no heaven?

there are others too if you think about it.. I am just lazy and do not feel like typing it all out.

Swearing to get a point across in anger is one thing... but to use it as a language...umm.. thats just not necessary... as it has been stated... this is a family channel with many diverse ages and beliefs.. everyone deserves respect for what they believe....

A smoker cannot smoke in a restraunt out of the rights of the non smoker... so why should it be ok to swear excessively... in a place that so many may disapprove? It is all a give and take situation.

Saying you have a right to do something, then taking it to an extreme to prove your point is usless and a waste of energy... and makes you look a fool!

Last paragraph is a bit of a rant.

So, um, killing people is better than swearing :?:? In game of course. Is it better for the younger players to see killing or hear swearing?
Can I gut someone in front of a group of five year olds or
can I say fuck infront of the same group of five year olds? What would you prefer? must pick one or the other.

If anything killing should not be allowed, but is that not part of the game.
Who made the first Cantr kill? How did they get the idea to kill?
Characters do not know of anything out of game, but how did the first
character to kill get that idea to kill a person or an animal? How did characters get the idea to mine for iron, gather cotton...
Well you get the idea.

By the way I live in Ohio and just last year Ohio passed that damn public smoking ban. I smoke where I want when I want.
I walk in somewhere and the clerk bitches about my smoke.
I just stub it out on the counter or on the floor and smile. Sometimes I just keep smoking. Why can't I use a product where I buy it?
Buy it there. Use it there.
What next? Your crotch bulge can not extend beyond this point? I do not like having to see guy crotch bulge
or 500 lb woman fat creeping out beyond the confines of her bathing suite. So horrible for my mental health. Them 500 lb bathing suite wearing women cause me to have nightmares. So scarring.
And if you must discuss smoking further, please start another thread and post the link here.

Rant is paragraph above.
if you dislike them IG then tell the charrie IG (and maybe ooc as well in a tell)

I really dislike ooc comments in game. My characters get confused.

Killing is an instinct, swearing is not. And you could say the same question is applicable to real life; however, I do not feel like creating a philosophical debate based on swearing and instinct and what-have-you, one could argue about such topics for hours or more. But here is my opinion:

In real life, killing in front of a child would be far worse than swearing. In a game, I'm going to have to say the reverse is probably true. If you think about it, which of those actions is a child most likely to imitate? The only swear words that do not really belong in Cantr are those, as Sunni said, of religious connotation.

I do agree somewhat. I just had to have my say.
I understand that kids do the imitation thing. I did a no no whith my nephew. He heard me say say the ultimate four letter f word.
Brother and sister-in-law have been trying to get him to stop saying it for the past two years. OOPS
Some of my characters do swear in game, but very rarely. The situation must present itself and anger too.

There was one character (thief) that told my character to "eat a dick" when I was was chasing him. I was offended a little, but my character was dumbfounded not knowing what dick was.

I really like what fuschyou said
I agree with Seko, if swearing weren't allowed...then Cantr would just be a big tea party.

In a case like that, the player is probably not going to stop swearing even if there is a rule made. That is the kind of player that either does not know how to role play properly, or simply does not care. The best thing to do in a situation like that is, as you did, role play.

I would be pretty sure that player let ooc influence the character.
I just told the character he was going to die. He stole.

I like to edit my posts sometimes. *looks to his previous post*

I must add one more post.
I swear in nearly all my sentences, but as I said my characters rarely ever do. The ultimate four letter f is my favorite along with shit and ass.
The last two go together. I did not expect that. It is just so great using words people deem inappropriate. I just see them as words as I would any other.

Actually, were I to role play that, or see it role played, I could die happy.

I would rather like to like to see such a display. I however would be displeased if a character of mine to do as such. I could not die happy. I would die of horror.
That could very well bring some needed excitment to the game. Not joking.

I tried to use wording like that and... forget it.
I hope this is not a sterotype. I think a Brit would be better at it.
Traditional English.
