I finally joined KoL about a week ago and I'm kicking myself for not doing it early.
Kingdom of Loathing is a browser-based stick figure semi-MMO; I highly recommend you check it out. Interaction is limited between players to messages, chat, trading items, and some PvP, but it's nonetheless phenomenal.
Look me up if you play; I'm Butternut, the lvl 9 Accordion Thief.

I was close to my second Ascension but then I got bored of just training stats to be able to beat the Naughty Witch, and eventually my account timed out. It's a good game, worth trying, but I don't see how some people can be bothered to play it through several times. Like on my second round I was a Teetotaler and I couldn't go to the inn at all because many of the encounters lead into getting drunk. The game has many things to work on but basic items won't sell for much, the only way to score some more meat is by making something the newbs don't know how to make. And since everything is explained on ColdFront, you can only make a profit selling to the people who don't read manuals. Yeah and mixing drinks...

I used to play and I liked it because of all the funny, clever stuff. I got tired of fighting the same stupid things a million times, though, just to get some other stupid thing I needed.
Also, I joined a guild and they were always pressuring me to play more than I wanted to.
I did enjoy getting people to give me free stuff all the time. That was the best part, actually.
I think I'll start playing again cause I don't have quite enough stuff to waste my time on.

Ok, I rejoined it today and wichi joined too. Last time was two years ago, I remember. It's a bit of a bummer that there are so many food items that you can't remember how many adventures they give. Also the market search is only by item name or shop name, nowhere-else.org has a much better search function. You can't simply search for "food that has min level 5 or lower and costs less than X".

I actually played it through twice, but then I just got bored of it. Especially since all the awesome people who used to play it left, and it was overrun by little kids who dont know how to spell or type correcterlyfulness.
But yeah, it was pretty fun, though I'm sure my account has been deleted by now.
EDIT: Apparently, my account still exists.

I want more adventures
It sucks being a poor newb. Today I drank too much. I think the limit is 15. I don't have an oven yet and even if I managed to save enough for that, doesn't it take an adventure to cook something before you can get the chef in a box? And I haven't even unlocked the areas where you'd get the materials for one.
Also I noticed there is no anti-cheese on the market so it will be a while before I can get a cottage. I didn't level up at all today though I gained some stats.
I noticed the Haunted Pantry is attached to a whole haunted manor. Is that a new addition? Since I don't remember that from last time.
