I'm going to be mostly shut off from the internet for the next couple days, but I promise to have a suitable wiki article soon enough that we can post all over the net. I'll also volunteer to prowl wikipedia looking for any place that we could link to our new page, but I'll definitely need help with that. Also, if people could start scouting other wikis to spam the wiki, that is an easy and small commitment to help out.

Grab a bit of in game text and show it in ads as they would see it in game. Show them what they are going to get.
I would suggest more stimulating in game text and I am not talking of sex.

The first two times I tried to play I had no idea how to play and just
let the player die.
Cantr is a far piece different from most games today and new players need to be show in depth what to expect.
Some screen shots and detailed explenation of what to expect, see and what they may beable to do.

All you truly need to survive is food. But newbies don't know that mushrooms and tomatoes are not suitable for daily food, nor is raw meat. Are these things pointed out in the first day article? It should be pretty much the first thing to say. Your little person needs food. Animals can be dangerous. People can be dangerous if they get mad.

Yeah. I would add one thing:

Cantr world can be cruel sometimes. People steal your stuff if you leave them on the ground and everyone are not going to help you chasing the thief.

One issue that I remember the Wiki geeks having is that the article wasn't posted by someone with a noticeable edit count. If we can find someone with a bit of Wiki posting under their belt, it would probably be wise to have them submit the article when we do have it ready. We really need to look legit, and unfortunately don't have the political lobby budget or Nature articles that WoW relies on for social legitimacy.

so basically we need to have an editing campaign? Have like 10 people edit every article they can, shooting our edit numbers through the roof, then have them compile work on the cantr article, giving it legitimacy ;p

Not really, we just need one person who uses wikipedia to speak up, so they can post the article for us. If that doesn't work out, I'm sure I can turn up a username and password with a history for us.

The problem wasn't that the article was up to par, but that Cantr wasn't "important" enough by Wikipedia standards (which quite frankly, is a low-blow). I know this because I volunteered my time with one or two other individuals to bring the wikipedia up to speed and make it appear professional--making it appear as a "society simulator" rather than a game last fall.

You guys would save a lot of time by reading the link I posted earlier to the webzine article on the matter (find it in Issue 7 or by the link in my sig). You will realize you need to make the game more "important," not the wikipedia article classier.

Point well taken, however, I want to do something. I enjoy writing, so even if we get shot down for wikipedia, I'm sure I can find some other places to stick it. If it gets shot down again, fair enough, and it will have been squarely my fault for not having listened.
