Thought of how to get fishs into the sea to work
In every ship there is still a button for looking at animals is there any way to create a couple of locations that only exist for sea creatures and then have them able to travel to and from every sea going vessel.
The presences of a sea creature would allow for a project to get such creature.
and/or
attack such creature.
project netting tuna 800-1
you see a man in his thirties hurt a whale with a harpoon.

Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

maybe the map can be partitioned into a grid, each square acting as a location for animals. When you're in a ship you can see and attack all the animals in the same square as you. the squares could be fairly large to save server space/time keeping track of all those locations. of course the squares wouldn't be visable to the players and the animal movement between squares would not show up on any events list. just an idea for how sea creatures could be implemented.
another idea that would be even easier on the server would be having a similar grid (except maybe with even larger squares) and each grid square would have harvestable resources like land locations, except it would be things like tuna and whale and junk like that. this would also make fishing require different tools than hunting. i mean who ever heard of catching tuna with a sabre? (edit: this one is similar to glasswalker's)

this is a good one.
i agree that you should be able to fish in some way when at see. make it REALLY random though.
Some special resourses could be gathered from fish too. -Did you know that before glass paper (or sand paper, whatever is the name in english) invention, shark skin was used for that poupose?-

it's being used on handles to give a non slip effect aswell so long as you have shark skin gloves and the scale pattern run's in opposite direction's. it kind of locks in like velco but without the annoying sound. and i beleive the japanese on there whaling boat's used shark skin for sand paper when doing the final few layaer's of lacker(sp?) on them to make them as smooth as possible
