I was actualy just jokingly reffering to the little labels the game sites have.
The more open-ended a game is, the more choices are available to the player.
The main thing is you are not limited to a general story or "main quest"
In cantr, there's none of that at all, making it the most open ended game available online (at least from what I've seen on the internet).

Here is 5 quick suggestions. I could take some time to write some good ones if I wasn't so busy all the time:
1. Endless Gameplay Possibilities
2. Extremely Large and Vast world
3. (maybe make a few statements regarding the amount of resources and items like eg.
Over 200 gatherable resources
Over 50 Vehicles
Over 100 Weapons and Armour
Over 100 Cities
ect...)
4. Explore New Undeveloped Lands and start your own Empire
5. Never play the same way twice

Every action has a consequence.

The world is much bigger in other text-based RPGs (if you believe TMC). Why to tell about it?
1. Free (always number 1)
2. Role-Playing encouraged
3. Possibility to become a shopkeeper, king, thief...
4. Players build the world (someone can explain this better for newbies, for sure)
5. Slow-paced

The only game in the world where you can dig for mud! Umm, but it's false advertisement that you could do quite everything in Cantr. I was disappointed to notice there's no built-in ways to make art. Nowadays there's some pottery but it takes a lot. People should know that in the beginning your character will be limited to very primitive items. If you want to be something great then it takes some planning and effort. When I started things were still rather easy, you could find some traces of iron in places where it had been present, and you could make items outdoors without workbenches, anvils, sharpening blocks and such. Nowadays Cantr is limiting technology to groups, loners can only hope to achieve something if they're willing to work for twenty years or so.

There are plenty of things that make Cantr unique.
Tinker, tailor, solider, spy, richman, poorman, beggarman, thief, you can actually play every one of them with up to 15 chatacters at any one time. You can truely see the world though each characters eyes very differently, their lives are in your hands literally for whatever you chose them to become.
No magic, no monsters, no hack and slash level up to win yourself armour. But plenty of armour and weaponry around to make, earn, steal or fight for. The only monsters in cantr are the villians, if your clever enough to play them.
Multiple language playing is possible (meaning those that have a slight grasp of another language can polish of the finer written dialect learning through the fun atmosphere of a roleplay society world.)
Vast lands to travel through and huge oceans to cross, from grand cities to barron wastelands. From huge forests to swamps and deserts. A vast array of vehicles, a vast array of machines and resourses. So you could chose to build a cosy homey cottage with a loved one or build an empire with a vast army joining you. Their world is your making.
Imaginative roleplay makes the world and is strongly encouraged, it really doesn't matter if it's not something you have tried before because those around your characters will soon show you the finer art of this along the way. But you are warned that this becomes highly addictive once you learn the basics.
It's free, all it's awaiting is your imagination. With a lively ooc friendly forum community for an ever growing world who are only too happy to see you on the path to Cantr addiction.
It's a game I found over two years ago now and to be honest I havn't stopped playing addictively in all that time because it is challenging as it is entertaining. The learning curve can take a little time because there are so many possibilities to be found ingame which in itself reveals the huge world for what it is. If you could learn of a whole world in a week you would soon be bored and the best games i ever played are the ones that takes a little time to get the hang of things.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent and Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.

Mate I know you're just estimating but there are 100 cities on a single continent... and there are hundreds of land masses... lol
Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

Nice text MakeBeliever.
Your message would be a good article about Cantr on some website.
But if roleplaying is required then it is not allowed to play without it. And people who don´t RP can play this game. No one has ever said that that guy should be banned because he hasn´t RPed.

Nakranoth wrote:Ack... roleplay's required, not just encouraged. That's really the defining point of Cantr if you ask me. It's a free, truly roleplaying game.

Depends on what qualifies as roleplaying. It's already roleplaying that you're not allowed to talk about real life stuff, you're not playing yourself there, you're playing someone else. Granted you might give your character your own name and not think much about the personality... Also some people don't use emotes, they just talk. Some characters manage to express their personality through that, they don't need expressions.

Maybe somebody should take some time to email the various admins/site owners of these sites you are looking at to correct the information. Another thing that is probably keeping people away is the huge amount of free games that are playable out on the net. Now, free is good, but when choked with all the choices, and most of them not even worth looking at, Cantr is just going to get skipped over. There are many other ways to market the game and if people are really interested in doing so, it can be done.
