Server Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

Postby 1959 Apache » Wed Mar 03, 2004 12:12 am

Is it just me, or has the buildup of animal droppings gotten into the drives of the server? Over the last two days, it has gotten slower and slower. Now, the game is just about unplayable. I lost 5 minutes waiting for a page that never materialized. I had to bail out. Just logging in takes 2 minutes.

It wa ok until today. My regular 6 o'clock character check took an hour... 5 minutes just to pick something up. I thought the animal reproduction was curbed and the amounts were going to level off. Could it be due to something else?

Its pissing me off like ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *KILLS*KILLS*KILLS*

I don't usually bitch like this but please get rid of whatever is causing this stupid annoying problem, and what I would think would be these IDIOT ANIMALS. We should just go back to the old way animals moved, with a mere few as to not piss me off every time they come and go and create this ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! lag. Humph.

Maybe I've gotten spoiled by being on a university line, but actions that sometimes (like in the early morning) are almost instantaneous now take up to 20 or 30 seconds per. This is a far cry from when I used to have to wait 2 or 3 minutes per page, but still irritating. Blargh.

I think how it was 2 weeks ago gave us the expectation that Cantr would only have short momentary problems, 5 mins after turns. Now this bs has made us mad. Why not just leave it how it was then, just a few weeks back, but before the time of the time stoppages.

Well Kwor, mind as well as get rid of that whole area off the map and claim it as the place that got frackled up, to save our server space for those who did not frackle up so badly. =D Join the Anti-Progress in Kwor Coalition.

If kwor project page taked 5 mind to load, Karnon's only takes 4.5...
with 100s of abandoned projects... the worst of which being spinage (why did people drop 50+ spinage projects in the first place?)

And, by the way, one of my chars has been to kwor recently and has seen the pile reduced to a "mere" 40 bodies

Everytime I see it more animals die a silent death.

I am not sure what exactly is causing it. We were operating better with twice as many animals.

Someone said that animals should be limited by the food they eat.

They are. When they eat too many cycles there numbers go down.

If the animals don't move so oft, I know one thing, my events page won't be cluttered with useless crap. Instead what about just showing movement of animals, when a BRAND NEW SPECIES to the land (the first rabbit, ratcoon, etc) arrives, or the End of the species occurs with the departure of one.

You see a herd of buffalo arriving.

You see the last pigeon leaving.

I've had one character in Kirinn Fields for a few days and the animal movement is insane! Every turn at least 10 animals move in and out - thr problem is they're all in one herd so you can;t even hunt them
