I'll play. Sounds more interesting than Mafia, actually.

I'm up for it... I may even draw my character... if I can be bothered.

How are we tabling what powers are up for bids? Just I know of two I want to be able to bid on...

I believe AoM said you should PM the two powers you want in the game to him. I did. You might not necessarily get them, since they'll be open to bid, if I understand correctly -- but at least those two would be up for grabs.

I also wish to contribute. I'm pretty sure, unless I miscounted, this makes me number 7? We need one more then.

And, upon rereading the first post, it's the "Classic" powers. If we want any other powers we PM him, and he will consider okaying it.

AoM wrote:Since it is a trial, we will only be using powers from the "Classic" list that is found on the rules site. (Click on the right hand column button that says "view all superpowers." The starred powers are considered Classic powers. If you think you have a good idea for a power that is on par with those listed on the classic list, you may PM me a suggested power, and I will consider "okaying" it.

Each person playing should PM me with two chosen powers that they want to see in the game. I will announce what powers are up for bid as I get power selections in.

I like to watch before playing so I do not screw up to much by not understanding.

We'll accomodate you at #9 Racetyme.

I have powers from 2/9 players thus far. Keep them coming!

Powers up for bid thus far:

Big Gnashy Claws - If you use no other powers in a given round, add 20 to each of your attacks.
Forcefields - Spend X. Either add 2(X) to your defense this round or X to your defense next round.
Souleater - Gain 50 energy when an opponent leaves the game.
Vampiric Bite - When you damage another hero, gain energy equal to half that damage (rounding down.)

deadboy wrote:Just actually read the rules after saying I would play, it doesn't sound too complecated, but it -does- sound as if it will take a long time, so let's please make a rule that each round is one day, at the end of the day resolution happens, but if you can't come online that day your energy is split up half to defence and half to attack

I will modify this suggestion slightly.

Rounds will be in strict 48 hour cycles. If you do not PM me your moves in time, you will be considered to be using half of your energy in defense, the rest of your energy will be unspent. (There is no way I can arbitrarily say who a silent player would attack, and there should be some penalty for non-participation.)

All powers have been selected. Complete List is as follows:

Big Gnashy Claws - If you use no other powers in a given round, add 20 to each of your attacks.

Forcefields - Spend X. Either add 2(X) to your defense this round or X to your defense next round.

Souleater - Gain 50 energy when an opponent leaves the game.

Vampiric Bite - When you damage another hero, gain energy equal to half that damage (rounding down.)

Icy Touch - Spend 15: If you damage an opponent this round, they may only use half of their Energy (rounding up) next round.

Precognition - You may choose how to put Energy into Attack and Defense after other people have revealed their choices. You must still choose which powers you are using normally, however.

Extra Arms - You may only assign one Attack per round, but a copy of that Attack is made against every other opponent.

Glass Swords - Add 40 to each of your Attacks. Lose this power the first time you sustain any damage.

Scientific Genius - Bidding for this power occurs before bidding for other powers. The winner of this power may select his bids for the rest of the powers after the other players have revealed their bids.

Titanium skin - Prevent the first 50 damage you take during the game.

Ants! - Each round, each of your opponents is Attacked for 1 damage, ten times, as if by another Hero.

Taxation - Gain 1 Energy for each 100 Energy that is spent in the game.

Really Big Guns - Add 50 to each of your Attacks.

Tai Chi - Spend 20 and choose an Opponent: Add that opponent's Defence to your Defence, this round. Use once per round.

Taunting - Spend 10 and choose a Power: Its owner must use it next round, if possible.

Spinning Cobra Clutch - When Attacked, reduce the Attacker's Attack value by their Defense value.

Orange Brick Skin - Add 20 to your Defence, each round.

Charged Armour - Burn 5: For the next three rounds keep track of the damage you take. After the three rounds have passed, deal damage to one target equal to the damage you received in those rounds. (You may not use Charged Armour during those three rounds.)

The Bidding Round has begun.

But before the main round of bidding can begin, we must first bid on "Scientific Genius."

Scientific Genius - Bidding for this power occurs before bidding for other powers. The winner of this power may select his bids for the rest of the powers after the other players have revealed their bids.

I need everyone to send me their bid for this power first. Highest bid gets it. In the event of a tie, there will be a private bid-off between the tying players.

Remember, you all have 100 energy to start. You may not ever bid more than 100. If you win the bid, you will pay that energy and not start with it at the beginning of the game. If you bid 100 energy and win all the powers you bid on, you will have 0 energy to begin the game and will die immediately. You have been warned.

Player Energy
Nueman 100
AntiChrist Online 100
Saztronic 100
Racetyme 100
FormerlyHF 100
deadboy 100
Pie 100
Nakranoth 100
Razorlance 100

I'd like a clarification on the bidding and how the "reveal" of our bids works. Will we find out what everyone bids on every power, whether they bid highest or not? Will we know every power that every player has succesfully acquired?

I would think the answer in each case should be "no," no?

My impression has been that we all bid secretly. Then we find out, individually, whether we won a particular power or not -- but not who else won what, or who else bid unsuccessfully on other things, etc.

If this is the case, then the one who bids successfully for "Scientific Genius" will get a list of all the powers and the highest bids for them (without the bidders being revealed), and then get to make his/her choices; and then after that everyone else's bids will resolve.

Sorry to be longwinded, but it would be great to have this clear before we get heavy into this.

Interesting.

I had intended for the answer to both questions to be "yes." Since this is a trial game and I don't want to get bogged down in rules votes, I am going to keep it that way.

If and when we play again, we can decide if we want to do a hidden power game.

So:

Every person's bids (even losing bids) will be revealed simultaneously once I collect all of them. (Remember, if you don't win a power, you don't lose the energy that you bid.)

Energy levels and powers will be publicly known in this game.

Just waiting on three more at this point.

If you are not bidding on Scientific Genius, feel free to send me your bids for the rest of the powers. That way we can get started sooner. Thanks.
