Water vehicles Speed

Postby Hagan » Mon May 28, 2007 1:14 am

I understand the ship speed formula as being

Ship speed = (base speed) - (load / weight effect)

But does the Load take into account other boats docked to the ship that is sailing?
Who wants to be normal...... Normal means you are with the majority.. and I dont want to be with them......

Yes. The weight of the attached boats and everything in them is included in the total "load" weight.

...but... does that mean, that if the ship has too much cargo on a board you shouldn't be able to dock to it...?

You can certainly dock to a boat rendering it too heavy to move...

I think, but I'm not sure, that there is a minimum movement speed of 1 pixel per turn.

The maximum load cappacity of the boat refers to the load on board. For example, you can have some longboats full of resources (lets say 2,000 kgs) attached to a raker (maximum load capacity 800).

Assuming the final load for the raker 2,500 kgs, the speed would be:

60 - 2500/50 = 60 - 50 = 10.

That raker would travel at speed 10, charging 2,500 kgs.

EDIT: rest of the disccussion moved to Resource Department Forum.

Why move it? There should be more public discussion in the Suggestions forum instead.
