cancelling abandoned projects - Duplicate of accepted

Postby berserk9779 » Sun Feb 29, 2004 9:00 pm

Shouldn't the initiator of a project be allowed to change is mind also is he has already used some resource on the project?
I mean. If I am building, let say an harvester, and i still need 1000g of iron, but i find a much better way of using the resources needed, shouldn't i be able of cancel the project and retrieve the goods?
I think it should also be possible to cancel someone else's project after some 40 days or do that no resource is added.
This will also prevent people to sabotate machinery starting huge projects and only putting a few grams to lock the peoject.

I agree if there isn't any work done on the project it should be able to be canceled and the stuff should be able to get back, if work has been done, then i don't think so.
I was not intoxicated while I wrote this.

Or, if job has been done you have to work it backwards at 75 or 50 % the speed

I agree with this in general too.

We want to make sure that projects are not used as storage containers.

So even if logically nothing has been done there needs to be a loss.

50%?

The project is safe from others for 100 grams per day that has been added to the project?
This would allow character disposal of "message" buildings and correction of machine sabatage.

Should there be a mining rate assiocated with it so it is just not the first person who is logged in gets the goods?

There would have to be some slow inital implentation to this we don't want ever half built limo to be available day 1.

I also think the thing about a project being too "new" should be deleted, instead it can be cancelled at 0% and no work done. This can prevent stupid projects.

What if the goods from a abandoned project can be retrieved only with work?
I think that retrieving them at 2 or 3 times the harvesting speed will prevent people from using projects like containers, but would make it worth to dismantle abandoned projects.
Or you could put a fixed rate, like: you cannot retrieve more than 400g of any good from a project you are cancelling
