Industrial waste

Postby Arlequin » Wed May 09, 2007 3:26 pm

Hi.

There's one location at the Spanish island where we are being buried under a humungous pile of unfinished projects.

I'd suggest the oldest ones became industrial waste, thus decreasing the biological resources gathering ratios. Gathering the waste, (like any other resource), and storing it would remove its effect. Later it could be turned into fertile dirt, biodiesel and such with some machines. :?

I like the idea, but how would you determine what becomes waste, and what does not?

It should be done something about whith old ruined projeckts. exaple: noob starts smoking projeckt of 32kg of meat. He puts in about 3g of meat and thats it. Now smokers is ruined. Maby there coud be done something to retreave those 3g of meat and save the smoker? There is lots of places whoth started buildings and only some resourses puted in. I think, if its possible, there should be an option to start new projeckt of retreaving those materials.

I'll suggest this again - tried a couple of times before but no-one really commented on it, either for good or bad. The main part of my post suggests how all projects can, in time, be removed:

Good idea, but not really whats being discussed here. I like the idea of industrial waste. What we would have to do, is have a certain amount of waste be produced for certain projects. (ones that it is logical to produce waste) Then, when the project is completed, the accompanying amount of waste would be put on the ground outside. However, I can't think of any projects in cantr that already exist that should have this penalty applied to them.

What Arlequín said was to turn int waste the old unfinished projects.

But I like the idea of producing waste anyways... although it can be too realistic for the mass.

Racetyme, I think mine was pretty much what was being discussed - Industrial Waste as a method for getting rid of old projects.

You're suggesting adding Industrial Waste for the sake of it, which I don't massively support, since there are a million things that could be added for the sake of it, and I see no reason why waste is any better than any of the other ideas out there.

But Arlequin was suggesting this as a method for clearing out old useless projects that have been around for 1000 days and still clutter the activities list, which is a worthy idea. My suggestion was a method for doing exactly that.

I have a feeling that my idea (linked to in my last post) combined with Arlequin's idea of causing it to become waste of some sort, rather than just disappearing as I'd invisaged, could be good.

But waste shouldn't be too useful to anyone, or we'll end up with loads of people staring cheap, bulky and pointless projects just so that they have lots of waste to use as fuel in 1000 days' time. So waste should be just that - waste - and not a useful commodity IMO.
