I have a charachter travelling around the region, passed through Lad a few days back, all seemed very quiet there, things seem much more active to the south, the old DoUrdens are still in the thick of trouble so it seems

Been more than 4 days.

Will only say...
This very thread "The End of the Alexian Empire" created March the 6th of 2004 and the Alexian Empire has not ended.

Those in the area will know of the recent activity. Dare not say more.

I'dve thought that the Commonwealth holds that title

The Blojt area, right?

It'd be a close call. I know the Alexian Empire, although known as the Lad Empire, was going strong when I joined the game in the late 300s, but I'm unsure when the Commonwealth began.

Is the Commonwealth what came out of Wu Tang and those people, organised by those people? or is it something that sprang up to replace them after they died?

I have a disillusioned governor/ holy manupset at the fact that the empire either killed or drove away all his friends.

Theres about 5 people, one inperticular, that are holding the empire togther at the moment. Once their gone its over, the rest will either sleep themsleves to death or simply go their seperate ways.

That could be said of any cantr organization. It's just how things work, sadly. I think it's due to a lack of dependability. Keys, access to resources/vehicles, weapons... 1 to 5 have control over these things in any given organization because of high death rates and a low trust level. I think, at least.

I tried to wreck to Commonwealth once, and was well on my way, but I didn't have the time.

Perhaps you should avoid talking about what is happening currently if it's so out of the ordinary, unless it's less recent than your post suggests.

Ongoing game events and all that, maybe an edit is in order?
