After The Storm
The Land of Chaos
It was a time of war in three different worlds. Wilons, the normally so peaceful race talented in magic, had recently learned to know the most powerful battle spells and were now trying to destroy the enemy cities and the people within. No one could even remember what had started the arguments between the cities.
Giants of the primitive world of Ghutora were fighting, as usual. The short history of their race had been soiled in blood from the beginning. Tribes were constantly waging war against each other, trying to get the sole rights over the best hunting grounds.
And in a parallel reality, a twin of our Earth called Blue One was struggling for survival against alien invaders - intelligent and strong lizards. Both sides had weapons so powerful that dwellers of other worlds could hardly even dream about them. Blue One's defenses had held for years but now the defeat seemed almost certain. People started killing themselves, fearing that facing the lizards would be far worse than death. International Counsil of Defences (ICoD), thinking there was nothing to lose, shot a rocket carrying an experimental bomb against the leading enemy ships. It would quite surely destroy them but it also might damage the planet as well. No one could imagine that the lizards had their defensive counter-bomb waiting. They released it and the devices crashed in the athmosphere, causing a great explosion that was somehow limited because of the alien bomb. Technology used there was totally alien to the people of Blue One and besides, nobody had time to think about it at the moment.
At the same moment, in Wilon Home World, a circle of well-trained wizards created a huge ball of fire to wipe out their neighbour city. Defenders of the target city saw the glow and knew they were doomed, but the town chief, a high wizard, did not panic and made everyone there hear his voice when he told them to join hands and trust him. There were not many survivors left but the ones remaining believed the words of their leader and did as they were told. As the fireball grew above the city of their enemy, the victoms-to-be used their power to locate each other and formed a giant ring of wilons around the house of their president. And when the tool of destruction flew across the sky, the high wizard used the combined power of all his citizens to make a cold wind that would blow it away. The forces of air and fire met above target and for a moment everything seemed to stop. The fire turned black and the air swelled...
And in Ghutora one cleric cried the Protectors of the tribe to help as enemy warriors slowly sliced him into pieces. This was a special moment, since the cleric had never said a word during his 30-year-long life: He had only screamed and wailed like a child, communicating through pictures in important occasions. And the gods heard him, for suddenly a wind rose, bringing dark clouds, thunder and storm. Everyone was shivering in terror, even the military commander. But the cleric was calm, for he knew he would die anyway. A whirlwind came, freeing the prisoner from the ropes that held him and torturers saw the man rising up into the skies. After that they had other things to worry about as the wind started tearing them apart.
The realities crashed in a dimensional crossing of time and space. Simultaneous bursts of force caused a tunnel between the three worlds. In that point a new world was born. Parts of the three planets that were it's parents were copied and mixed into a weird and chaotic realm. Magical storm ripped creatures and objects from the parent worlds and scattered them all around the new land. Some of the beings survived, but for how long? The land is new, strange and filled with danger. Even staying alive will be hard.
Can YOU survive?
Additional information:
The Storm is now over for Newland, but it has never been stopped. It travels on in the emptiness between realities and it's attracted by all kinds of explosions and quakes. Every object small enough that it encounters will be teleported to Newland. This also includes people, so new races may appear.

(No, this is not a forum game.) I was just digging through my old plans and this one is kinda cool, mainly because I created several item graphics for it, mainly candy. The idea was to have a multiplayer online game where players could play humans, giants, magic wielders (Wilons) or lizard-people. It would be a mixture of high-tech, barbarians and magic. Here's the background story.

Interesting. What was the actual intent? To make it a MUD, 2D or 3D game? And Multiplayer Online or Massively Multiplayer Online? And RPG?

Massively multiplayer, text based interface but items and locations would have pictures to spice things up. Also character images could be selected from a gallery. I did most of the planning while playing RaceWarKingdoms so it has taken some influence of that, such as having the graphics cached on the player's computer so that they wouldn't have to be downloaded for each session. And having a grid where you can move.
The planet would be divided into Wilon, giant and human sectors but people could travel to other races' regions, they would just suffer some penalties while in foreign terrain. Lizard folk would be alien to all the regions but some of their crashed ships would be scattered around the place. Lizards would have the most high-tech weaponry but reloading and repairing them would be difficult due to ~2/3 of the planet being very primitive and barren.
The point would be to scavenge, fight against other species and try to survive. It would be cool if people would team up. Characters would develop but there should be caps, it was totally ridiculous how in RWK people could level up almost indefinately. There could be some NPC creatures to battle for XP but they would be found wandering at random and they wouldn't be scaled down to match the character's level, so in the beginning you would be trying to sneak away from everything you encounter and just concentrate on scavenging and establishing contacts with other people of your race.
There would also be an off-game chatroom called Café Spirit with a slogan "No bodies allowed". There people could take a break from the tough survival scene and chat without minding the distance or character species.

Sounds like a well-thought-out concept. At what point, and why, did you decide to trash it?
Also, the type of interface you're going for sounds chaotic to balance and program, but it does have an element of feasibility.

I've never had sufficient programming skills and naturally an online game would also require a server, which costs money. And I'm just a poor student. I've planned a lot of games that were never finished, this is just an example of one.
The on-going universal storm also allows people creating their own species and items.
