Sunshine- A very good film.

Postby Crosshair » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:12 pm

Made by the Director of Trainspotting and 28 days later, comes a masterpiece of humanity and science fiction to the extreme.
It's been seven years since Icarus 1 was sent on a mission to restart the Sun (suspend your disbelief) and failed. Icarus 2 has launched, with the hope of Mankind on it's shoulders. The spacecraft holds a nuclear bomb, built out of all the radioactive material on the planet, to hopefully restart the fusion within the Sun.
As they near the Star, they pick up a distress signal... The ultimate test of the solidarity and strength of the crew will not be the only thing on their minds.

I reckon that film was fantastic, the photography was brilliant and it wasn't just any other SciFi movie. I reccomend you see it!

Really? I've seen the adverts and that base plot sounds a bit rubbishy, might give it a go though I suppose....

Haven't even heard of it, but I assume it hasn't been released here across the pond yet.

Yeah, the trailer looked good, and I've read good things about it since seeing the trailer, I'll be going to see at some point within the next week or so. According to IMDB it's not released in America until the 14th September, long wait for you guys... for a change.

I have no idea why a company would do that. Seems stupid. Anyway, that would be why I haven't heard of it.

Now you now how the rest of the world feels when it comes to American films that come out months, and in some cases years, after they come out in America. Then again, I understand there's dozens more which never get released, or go straight to DVD in other countries, but there's usually a good reason for that.

The company must be British or European. Even in Australia, it's out. :D

Like I said, the same director and producer as 28 days later and Trainspotting
So yes, British.

I have seen it, the plot dealing with the mission is a tad far fetched but the dealing with finer details between the crew and some the ideas they come up with is interesting. Enjoyable but no blockbuster

It was good, but not that good. I didn't feel like I'd wasted time, nor money. but neither did it keep me thinking about it after I left the cinema.

It's a sci-fi, but not based on science in the least. The scienece behind the 'payload' is glossed over entirely. The sci-fi premise of the movie is never treated as anything but a vehicle for the thriller, which is fair enough.

It toys with the old deity device, with regards to human civilisation's close link to the sun, as deity of divine force. But it doesn't do this with much depth.

It's a thriller, for sure. Very reminiscent of 2001, but not quite so long and dull. Very very pretty. Well executed, but ultimately not very deep on any level.

Not a touch on 28 Days or Trainspotting, and quite disappointing considering that pedigree.

Awww... Now I wished I did see that movie instead of "Are we done yet?" I fell asleep for the first time during that movie. I'm booking a seat to see that movie! 8)
