Yes they do. All animal or Character attacks blocked by shields cause usage based decay to the shield. All armed attacks on animals (or characters) also cause usage based decay on the weapon.
Currently the usage based decay for shields is a constant value by shield type, regardless weapon/animal which attacks .

It would sound logical that bigger animals and weapons would damage shields better than small ones. Would it be difficult to take into account?

I would imagine that used based decay on shields is based on damage absorbed. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Something like an elephant naturally does more damage than a goat, then if you manage to block it, your shield is gonna be crushed. Though most likely you're gonna be crushed as well so it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Heh, in Aki wood camp, it's the damn bears you gotta watch out for.

Far as scarabs go, at least they make good shields when you bring them down. :P

I've found that Lions, bears and scarabs are the scariest animals yet

Wolves are pretty bad too. One ate my character's girlfriend. Then again, she kinda deserved it.

Oh? Where are there so many wolves? Wherever I have a char that sees a wolf, it gets killed off before it can attack.

I've not seen very many wolf attacks and I've a char that's lived around them a long time now.

Boars suck, but not for my charrie. My charrie hugs them... by poking. And they don't bother him.

Heh, Aki Wood Camp has boars and bears running rampant, my charrie has seen some death due to their tag teaming, and has seen several charrie's, including himself, almost die a number of times.

Russian territory. Sure we usually attack them on first sighting and they can't get through an iron shield if the target isn't wounded, but they are a threat to the poorly shielded and wounded ones.

As long as we are talking about exotic animals, where are the elephants? Is that Burgeo? I heard so much about elephants back in the day, and not a mention of them since I got back.
