Vehicle and machine aging

Postby Spiritus » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:45 am

I'm sure this has been suggested before but not exactly as I want to suggest.

Each machine should be broken into bunch of differnt parts and sub parts

*car*
engine
-pistons
-rubber seal
tire
-rim
-wheel
-rubber
frame
-axle
-metal frame

when you build an engine you would be automatically building each of the parts with the engine it would include the resources needed for the whole thing but as you drive and the car ages parts could individually wear down as they wear down so does performance and you must make the individual part to repair the car this could work with machines, cars, weapon, buildings almost anything items could be much better but inreturn a little harder to fix but mass production of parts could eventually make them cheaper to fix....

I came up with this idea after posting an idea on this thread:

http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12701

its the fourth post down.

basically its something that would only be cool to implement if the major economy overhaul i talk about on that post is implemented.

I just made a crossbow, and I can tell you that by breaking things down into too many peices gets agrivating because you waist half your time making it waiting from one project to the next while your charie sleeps.
