Stopping people that attack entire towns
It seems ridiculous to me that a few people can butcher an entire town, and can slay a huge number of people without being stopped. If this were possible in real life i wouldn't leave my house. Maybe an idea would be to have an option to swarm a guy with a bunch of other people. Perhaps make it an option you can do to people, like dragging, but then when a certain number of people participate, the person is immobilized, incapable of doing anything. For a mental image, think a horde of people leaping on top of a guy, like a pile-up in football.

But in real life, would it be hard to slay a bunch of unarmed people sitting nowhere near any buildings?

Maybe if a town can be killed out by a small group of pple, then the town might just not have been this succesfull. And this was in inevitable, if I town can't survive an attack by a few pple heavilly armed the town maybe doens't desirve to survive.
And maybe it's a lesson for the town to always have some pple on guard or just to give the citizens weapons and shields, so they can protect themselves and others when not everybody is active.

What i'd like to see is more varieties of defences beyond simple weapons and shields. Such as city walls, gates, maybe eventually defensive and offensive artillery and siege weapons. Maybe when/if we get farming going, the area inside the walls can only sustain a limited amount of farms, so too many people could starve in a confined city under siege.

This is sort of possible today.
It is sort of a city planning issue. If you build most of the buildings within a single building then you get this for cheap. To make it work would take an effective dragging plan with a locked door. It sounds like Sil has something like this with everyone hiding in one building. This gives a shielded farmer caste and all other people neededing food on the inside and having time to work on other things.
A logical problem would be that you cannot build a wall around food resources.
A nice enchancement would be able to build a wall around at least part of the mined resources so that work could be done "in a mine with a lock".
The lock picking tool can be thought of as a battering ram of sorts.
It is all how you look at it.
The ability to wrap existing buildings into the inside of a new building would be nice too.
