I'm not 100% sure, but I think he's trying to say that he wants protective armor that makes you tired to walk around in... but then there's ways around that (undress, walk, redress)... so it's really not balancing... Now if it made you as a fighter less effective (sacraficeing offencive power for defensive) you may be able to maintain a sembalance of balance...

Or have equiping armor be a project that takes 1 hour. I mean, a plate mail has quite a few pieces, and its pretty hard to quickly put it on and take it off.

Another option would be to have armor act like a shield, so that it is always in effect while being held. This means that so long as its in one's inventory, the person reaps its benefits and penalities, such as increased tiredness when doing anything.

Sorry about my english. I think the idea of more protection is needless. Armors can be another kind of clothes. Do you understand me?

I think so... it would be less confusing for that proposal to be in the Clothing thread. But, you want clothes made of metal? Weightless, and with no combat function. :)

Darn non pastry-based humanoid creatures...

Ok, let me refrais this.

We don't need armor to do anything with draggin, if we would just invent one of my ideas that I had along time ago, but it still isn't implumented.

Armor needs to subtract a set number of attack point thingies off of all attacks, instead of acting like the "YOU MIS OR HIT!!" things that sheilds have.

The reason we have said no to this in the past is twofold. First of all, our plans for the future include armor so these would end up getting in the way. Secondly we have feared that players will expect that they actually do something useful (especially in the days before the wiki).

There's three things wrong here... One shields don't affect hit/miss chances. Two, adding extra protection requires adding more potent weapons and would disrupt the already barely balanced combat system, favoring the rich more and more. Three, it's spelled miss.

but really, shouldnt the combat system favor the rich? typically, in a one on one battle, sure skill matters a great deal, but if i have armor and you have just a shield, i hope i have the upper hand.

Also, if the rich are the only ones who can afford armor and upper echilon weapons, doesnt that promote cooperation for a group equiped with top of the line equipment?

Thing is, it already favors the rich. Bone will never beat steel in a one v. one scenario. Adding strictly higher lever weaponry (no drawbacks) only serves to widen the gap.

Actually, the system favors those with more people in there army.

Maby if you're wearing the armor, you cant attack anyone, along with the protection that you get.

Or maby it will only effect the less expencive wepons.

Well...history was like that:Everybody has weapons, but steel is rare in the economy and technology stage of advance that we are located right now.The steel was one of the most valuables "essencial-materials".Only nobleman could pay for a horse, weapons and a complete armor.Weaponwy and the war machine in general only brought beneficts to the rich and could be only paid by them.

I honest to go feel we've got enough weapons and the combat system is perfect and we should just leave it the fuck alone.

I think the combat sistem could be improved, but he won't be improved right now, so for now, against my judjement I agree with the idea with clothes tha looks like armors.

How about more encraved wapons, like diamond encraved saber?I would like to have a long sword with rubis and diamonds...hmm style...
