Locks in the helm of ships

Postby Liet » Tue Mar 06, 2007 3:44 pm

I would like to have the possibility of locking the helm of my ship, so that I can be working in a cabin without the risk my sailors change the route of the ship.

This would also help if someone wants to board a ship in a dhingy leaving some sailor in his big ship. With a lock he would be safe about the possibility his sailors steal his big ship when he is out.

Sorry but mutiny is just one of those things that captains have to watch out for. I therefore don't like this idea
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we" - George W. Bush

Mutiny is still possible, the sailors can kill the captain, but not use the helm without permission.

Then the captain falls asleep and the ship runs aground because nobody can change course... then everyone onboard starves or canibalizes each other... waiting for the captain to die.

This is not a good idea from my perspective.

Well, the same happens when the captain falls asleep and the sailors can't go out of a locked ship. They have to wait until the captain deads or kill him...

But they can at least steer into port and beg for food...

I'd suggest a kind of project like...

Project:
"blocking the helm"
1 cantr-hour and to have a "Blocking lever for helms" in the ship required.

Non holdable item:
"Blocking lever for helms"
1000 grams wood
300 grams iron
2 days of labour
carving knife and hammer required.
Tyche es una malparida. Espero que Ramnus y Pluto intervengan... o no :P

I don't like it. Deal with the problem or get a crew you can trust, one way or the other.
