putting resources on furniture

Postby T-shirt » Thu Oct 05, 2006 5:33 am

I was reading the altar thread and I was thinking about it.

When putting resources on open furniture, like shelves, tables, etcetera, they will not be hidden from view. Thus in the objects screen those resources should still be visible.

I suggest furniture should be changed that resources can be put on them. On the objects screen resources on furniture will be displayed differently:

Image Image 168 grams of wood (table)
Image Image 1169 grams of wool

Resources in closed furniture will not be shown in the objects screen (like it isn't shown already).

I see where that is going, and think the idea is good, but it would just be a hassle in the long run. I think it should stay as is, nothing split up.

Hmmm. Don't know if it is worthwhile, but that's the same sort of layout as on the People page, where those in vehicles are shown separately, so it may not be too much of a hassle... not that I'm a programmer.

Indented text...

Code: Select all

1324 grams of meat.
A stone table
   124 grams of daisies
   693 grams of hematite
   2004 grams of hemp cloth
A wooden shelf
   643 grams of carrots
   834 grams of stone
   24 grams of copper
   100 grams of window glass
Oven
a brand new stone hammer

Now wouldn't that be pretty clear concerning what is in/on what? It would be nice too to have the amounts hidden or shown as approximate amounts as proposed in another topic.

I think Seko's idea would be better in terms of organizing the objects page. If we just add the (location) after each and the make a copy, they will be "scattered throughout the room". Nice and cluttered.

Has the staff decided yet to move this suggestion to 'accepted'?

I like it too. Nice way to sort things.
My idea: Just because you see items, no mean you can pick them up.

1. It can be closed. Imagine market stalls or other kind of shops. You don't have to ask anyone and wait 2 days for answer. You can just see what they have for sell. But that is another subject

2. It can be occupied by a char (example: ypu can't pick up anything from work bench when someone is working there.

One more thing. This is absolutely awesome solution for librarians! I love it!
