Outdated texts that should be rewritten

Postby SekoETC » Sat Feb 10, 2007 9:52 pm

Below you can fill in some parameters of the building project. When asked for a name for an object other than a building or room, please think of it as a brand name and serial number combination. In other words: keep in mind that if you sell the object to someone else, the name should still be sensible. An example of a good name for a car would thus be `Mazda 323 - 13` (where 13 would be some kind of serial number) and a bad name would be `Trudy`s car`.

Stupid stupid text. The only parametre for building and vehicle projects is the name, so it shouldn't say "some parametres". Also nowadays vehicles can be renamed so it's not so drastic if you sell it. And houses can also be sold. This is just forcing OOC influence on the game.

I have some others written down but that's on the school computer, I might post them on Monday.

This would be a... languages department issue, wouldn't it?
Because those texts already exist as variables, I guess the idea of changing the base text would have to be approved. But who makes that decision... Junesun? GAC/GAB? ProgD?

edit: Oh, I forgot to say I agree. There are more instances like this that I'm not familiar with, but there needs to be a streamlined process to either change or approve changes to those things.

I would think this one would be ProgD.

You have 200 minutes left to play this turn.

It should be day. Turn is misleading.
There are others I don't know offhand.

But the time reset doesn't correspond with a new day. Admittedly, if you run out of minutes it says "come back tomorrow" but does it matter?
Surely there are far more important things.

Yeah, LangD can change the texts. There's a lot of stuff that could use fixing. The question is are we allowed to touch them?

Another problem there is is a text saying "If you want to start a character in a language other than the ones started here, contact support email address : Image before creating the character", or something like that. It sounds like it was ok to start a character there is no language group for, just as long as you inform support about it. Which as far as I know is against the rules. People have asked if it's legal to play in Norwegian on the Swedish region and were told no. Also there was some guy talking Finnish in some town on the English region. Also one guy in Brunoi thought my character was talking Japanese (when it was in fact severely bastardised English) and tried to reply in the same way. It should be made known that most people live among the speakers of their spawn language and foreign contacts are rare. And also that your character is not allowed to know any other language besides the one he or she is spawned under, unless they learn it ingame.
