Searching resources

Postby BlueNine » Wed Jan 24, 2007 12:30 am

Just a small idea for whoever coded these purdy new menus we have now...basically instead of just being able to search up tools etc... you can type in a resource and it will find which tools etc require that resource.
Something that would've been very handy while I was trying to find out what platinum is for today :)

Since I started playing, the whole principle of the game has been stood on its head. There was a time when newspawns knew nothing... then came the wiki.
My view on this one is that it should be found out in game, but alternatively, a wiki entry perhaps. (Maybe there is one already.)

there is a wiki entry, under each individual resource the wiki will tell you every item that directly needs it.
Person: Akamada doesnt control the animals.
You see a wild boar attack Person.
Person: I still dont believe you.

That is not generally the case - while some resource articles have that information, it is not currently standard for all resource articles, and what information there is is almost always incomplete or out of date. It could be made standard and self-updating, but that would involve work in excess of the manpower currently available on the wiki (i.e. next to none).

Clicking on "What links here" at the left of an article will list articles linking to that page - for resources this list will contain all articles describing how to produce or use the resource.

The suggestion doesn't make any more information avaliable (after all it is in the menu (Thank you to who ever made them) but makes it easier to find.

I really like this idea, perhaps it could be done for tools and machinery as well?
